This sport is full of guys throughout history that have lost badly in fights at a young age and have come back. Joe Louis got smashed by Max Schmelling and then went on to not only destroy him in the rematch but he went on to win 34 fights in row and set a record for most title defenses which is a record that still hasn't been broken. Same thing with Lennox Lewis when he lost to McCall. I remember folks calling him soft and everything else but look what he ended up achieving.

Anderson was badly hurt in the first round and never stopped trying to find a way to win. I'm not saying he will be Joe Louis, I'm saying that he will learn and improve. He is only 24.

I think that's fair to Anderson, but since he's made several comments about retiring by 27 and not loving the game, I don't know if he'll have a similar success story.

He didn't get knocked out, he was stopped after the bell and on his feet.
    Absolutely disgusting stoppage

I agree with that. In no way am I comparing him to Joe Louis or Lennox Lewis. I'm just saying it's one loss on a 24 year olds record. He was overmatched physically but the kid still has a ton of talent. It remains to be seen if he has the will or love for the sport to comeback from this.

Prospect for me rules out Kabayel and Jalolov. I’d even rule out Wardley snd Clarke tbh. These aren’t young dudes.

**** it, I’ll just say Lenier Pero. Only because I refuse to take Itauma or Fisher seriously right now.

The 0 shouldn't mean as much as it does it boxing.. sure go through the journeyman and cans to get experience and build a record but not over do it.... look at Tyson Fury... regarded as one of the best of this generation and the resume is 1. Old Wlad, dodged the rematch 2. Wilder, potentially never any good 3. Old washed Whyte.

It’s really difficult to not see Itauma raising his hand with a world title.

He doesn’t seem to understand the status quo of taking it easy. He’s swinging for the fences.

Forgot about Pero, I wonder if he's actually any good though or just another Sanchez.

Can you tell me what it is that he does well, though?

I mean, I don't understand why everyone is waiting for him to improve when there are dozens of guys out there of the same talent level.

Maybe I am being harsh, or not seeing what others are seeing, but in Anderson, I see an average guy who may literally have ben pulled out of a hat to be anointed the next American hope.

Long story short, he was a two time National champion and he is very athletically gifted for a man his size. With that said, it was alaraming how hittable he was last weekend and it was obvious that the size of his opponent wasn't something he could overcome. If he is going to have success going forward, he is going to need to clean up defensively for sure and not just stand in front of a big man like that. He has a lot of natural tools like fast hands and good movement but those traits disappeared last week. He looked really good until the end of round one when he got hurt and then it was all downhill from there.
