There have been very many upsets so far in boxing this year, especially in April. Many say Ortiz over Berto was the biggest upset. I'm thinking Lopez losing to Salido may have been the most unexpected. Then again, some oddsmakers say that Kirkland losing was the biggest upset. Morales performing so well against Maidana was shocking alone. Thoughts? Here's help if you've lived under a rock... This content is protected This content is protected
I will say the Kirkland lose and also the Lopez lost though I mention way before in another thread that Lopez could get a reality check if he did not fix his drama in his personal life and train and took this fight seriously. I said your easiest fight could become your hardest no matter what and I was right on the money. I had Ortiz winning against Berto and im glad he quieted a lot of haters/critics that are now his biggest fans
someone actually mentioned to me that Dyah beating Marcus in that Showtime tripleheader was pretty unbelievable
Your dumb...Its not HYPE its called INEXPERIENCE....Its obivious (to any fan who REALLY knows boxing) that Lemieux has all the tools to make it to the top he justs needs more experience to put it all together...
Has to be Salido-Lopez. Dude with 10+ losses (recent one to Gamboa) being brought for unbeaten KO artist JuanMa to look good, only to turn up bigtime and pull a sweet science on Lopez in front of his home crowd by TKO. EVERY element of this fight cries for upset of the year and it will get it.
I think Morales' performance against maidana. Although Maidana is no great many people thought Morales wouldnt have a chance and the fight was a disgrace and shouldnt be happening. So although he lost this is why i think it was the biggest upset. Most people agreed Rubio would be Lemieuxs first real test. Kirkland was also a surprise especially the way he lost but again he was relatively untested so it wasnt that surprising that a prospect didnt live up to expectations, especialyl one who went to jail for a while. I think most people felt the Berto-Ortiz fight would be mostly dependant on how strong Ortiz was mentally after the Maidana and Peterson fights. Obviously he showed his new toughness that night but it was seen as a much more even fight than morales/maidana. Junama/Salido are not fighters i know alot about ill admit that but i read many people talking about issues in his personal life etc. and looking at Salidos resume and some of his fights hes proven himself as a good but not quite top level fighter. Also, due to the poor nature of the stoppage it is less of an upset.
...speaking of dumb, it's you're dumb, not your dumb, unless you are saying that I have a dumb. Lemieux lost because he was inexperienced, yes. But he was thrown into a WBC eliminator because of the hype. Don't get pissed just because someone says something negative about a Canadian boxer. Anyway, better luck next time. :smoke
Personally, I would probably go with Kirkland-Ishida. That was quite surprising. Salido-Lopez to me was almost a 50/50 fight, probably about 60/40 in favor of JuanMa. To me that was a close fight, so I don't view that as an upset, and neither was Berto-Ortiz. That was a 50/50 fight. Lemieux-Rubio was suprising, but right now, ATM, gotta go with Ishida dropping Kirkland and making him look like a fool for 2 minutes.
