    Garcia def. Khan
At least to me it was. I know Khan has a shakey chin, but I figured he'd beat the slower Garcia.

It's not the most important fight in boxing, but it involves two popular fighters.

Tito vs hopkins- this should not even be considered an upset but no one , including the tito camp, knew how good and what hopkins would eventually become.

Combining 3 more factors, tito weakness was boxers, hopkins was the true middleweight and most people forget that tito stoped his pre fight preparations to help in 9/11

jones-tarver, although he just got cought, i believe roy was never the same after dropping that much weight after the ruiz fight

Sanders vs Wlad - WBO World Heavyweight Title

Outcome - Wlad stopped in two rounds

Why it happened - Sanders was a career underachiever, semi-retired and spending more time on the golf course than in the ring, it was to be easy work for Wlad who was at the time considered Lewis's heir apparent to the Heavyweight Throne, as such Sanders was not taken as any kind of threat by the Klitschko camp and neither Wlad nor his trainer had prepared for any scenario except for an easy win. Thus when Sanders caught him and knocked him down two times in the 1st Wlad was shaken and had no idea how to deal it, and his trainer was shocked and had no idea what advice to offer between rounds to deal with it, which led to Wlad going out for the 2nd without a gameplan and all over the place mentally allowing Sanders to finish him off.

Calzaghe vs Lacy - WBO, IBF and the Ring World Super Middlweight

Outcome - Calzaghe win via UD

Why it happened - Lacy was overmatched, it's as simple as that. He did not have the skills nor ability to hang with Joe Calzaghe, however this is still an upset win because of how the fight was percieved prior to the event. Lacy was the new pin-up of the division, being touted as a knockout machine set to dominate for years to come, while Calzaghe had been knocked down a few times in recent fights and was thought a much diminished fighter ripe to be dethroned. The majority of pundits, boxers asked to give their opinion and fans were picking a Lacy win via KO, and of those that were picking Calzaghe to win most thought Lacy would make a fight of it. Calzaghe's utter domination of Lacy was predicted by a very small minority of people.

Lewis vs Rahman - WBC, IBF and IBO World Heavyweight Titles

Outcome - Lewis knocked out in the 5th round

Why it happened - Lewis did not take Rahman as a serious threat and wasted his preparation period filming scenes for the movie Oceans Eleven, then he arrived in South Africa less than two weeks before the fight was to happen and gave himself no time to acclimatize. Rahman, meanwhile, had been training and prepared as hard as he could for the fight in South Africa itself, which meant that Rahman turned up fully fit, fully focused and fully acclimatized for the fight while Lewis did not, and Rahman took full advantage of that to get the win.

    Hopkins vs Pavlik

Outcome - Hopkins win vis UD

Why it happened - it was believed that time had finally caught up with Bernard Hopkins after his loss to Calzaghe. Having to pretend to be low-blowed and indulge in play-acting to get a breather in that fight coupled with his increasing reliance on spoiling tactic led many to believe that Hopkins was no longer a top class fighter and would be nothing more than a stepping stone for the dominant lineal Middleweight champion Pavlik. 26-year-old Pavlik, with an impressive record of KO or TKO victories, was clear favorite with many assuming he would win. However, as Pavlik himself said in the build up we knew how he fought, we knew his style and didn't plan to change, and that was exactly the problem, Hopkins knew all that as well and knew how to beat him easy and proceeded to do just that. Prior to the fight the boxing world believed Hopkins had biten off more than he could chew, but reality proved that it was Pavlik who had taken too big a bite.

    Done forget Shane-Margarito..

Everyone thought it was suicide for Shane to take this fight. What they weren't counting on is the fact that, unlike Cotto(e), Shane stepped into his punches and wasn't afraid to take a few chances because of his great chin. This is also the fight where Margo was caught with the suspicious hand wraps, and some would argue that he was mentally not into the fight because of the surrounding controversy... or he had his magic potion taken away.

    Can't forget Pac-Oscar either...

Many people were actually deriding Oscar for taking a fight against a guy who had to jump two weight divisions to fight him. Some people disagree as to why the upset happened as one-sided as it did, but there some things we know for sure: (1) Oscar never counted on Pac being that fast and powerful, with that good of movement. (2) And Oscar was definitely not at his best weight. It was kind of the perfect storm in my opinion.

Great call. Very underlooked upset. But it was crazy. Almost as crazy as Mayorga himself.

Here is why it really happened:

Tszyu has an atrocious diet (similar to Hatton), he loves beer and he doesn't like to stay in shape in between fights. He would drop from 180-190 lbs to 140 lbs in about 2 months during his training camp. He would cut weight a night before, then rehydrate like crazy and enter the ring 15 pounds heavier - a typical tactic among smaller fighters.

However, the fight with Hatton introduced a new rule for the weight ins: if you'd like, you can read up on it. He struggled to make weight and only made it on the second attempt, only to find out that he has to weight in AGAIN, the next morning. Being 35 and a serious weight drainer, it was much harder for him to regain his strength and energy, and make sure he is under 150 for the second weight in: as a result, we saw the slowest, most lethargic Kostya Tszyu, at least in my experience. The younger, lighter Hatton, had absolutely no problem with the weight.

Then came the fight night. Hostile environment, everyone around him rooting for Hatton and , surprise surprise: a pet british referee that, if allowed, would be sneaking in punches on Kostya in between rounds. Hatton broke every rule possible, he wrestled, grappled, muscled and pushed, going head in and landing a spectacular and very ,very deliberate/obvious shot to the champion's groin. Ref didn't even go as far as giving him a point deduction or a talking to! Anyone who saw the fight saw that Hatton specifically targeted Kostya's balls, and the ref kept pushing Tszyu to continue and stop "faking"! That moment I said to myself :eek:nly an idiot would go to Brittain to fight a british fighter, and last weekend's Scott vs Chisorra reinforced my belief (which was already practically axiomatic after the obviously crooked decisions during the olympic games).

All in all, Kostya Tszyu got Brittarded, full steam, and helped create the biggest star attraction brittain had to offer: a pale faced, corpse like, lovable alcoholic with no discipline and limited boxing skills. There is only one, Ricky Hatton!
