The first name that would come to mind nowadays is sadly Andre Ward for promotional/managerial reasons.
though he achieved a lot, think Prince Naz retired / stopped taking training seriously way to early, he should of had another 4 years or so at the top, and could have fought morales JMM and pacquiou in that time, from around 2000-2004. Had he bothered to prepare for barrera he probably would of won that too imo.
James Kirkland- Excellent power, great offense but he spends too much time out of the ring and doesn't get the top fights. Victor Ortiz- Looked like an exciting prospect but doesn't have the heart for boxing and gives up too easily against 2nd tier fighters. Chavez Jnr- Lack of discipline, yet to beat a top class fighter despite over 40 fights. Avoiding big fights against Froch and Golovkin
Andre Ward becasue he doesnt fight. Has the tools do so much. Yes hes done a lot but has potential do really stamp his authority as a kingpin from 160-175
Andre Dirrel too but i understand he has had problem outside the ring. Not sure about details but the guy is seriously talented.
Tony Ayala Jr. Vitali Klitschko Ike Ibeabucci Hector Camacho (all the cherry picked fights) Gerald McLellan Tyrell Biggs Lamar Parks
I was just thinking about Salvador the other day. He had no business beating Wilfredo Gomez, who is probably pound per pound the hardest puncher ever. But that was Salvador. With other great wins over Laporte, Lopez, Nelson, he was already an ATG at the time of this death.
Dre Dirrel comes to mind, but he's still got 5-6 yrs to prove us wrong. One that definitely coulda made a HUGE name for himself had he given 100% to the game, is Corrie Sanders. Unfortunately, he wasn't given the opportunities for paydays that a hyped American, Mexican, or Euro fighter would be given, and he lost interest for several yrs. He did however make history by destroying a top 10 ATG HW, but he mighta had 4 or more ATG scalps on his resume had he thought to continue training after the Tubbs debacle. IE Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield, and Vitali.:deal
salvador sanchez? the man died in a ****ing car crash at 23 *******!! log off, with that nonsense, go & learn your boxing history!!
Jorge Linares isn't even the biggest waste. He is just old-fashioned overrated. As are several of the men being listed in this thread.
