How about a current waste of talent...Andre Dirrell.....speaking of it's been 6 months of inactivity since that "thrilling" win over Curtis Stevens. He has a load of natural athletic talent...but it doesn't seem like it will take him very far.
i know you might be saying that in a tongue in cheek way but actually he had an amazing amatuer experience. he coudl punch and could box it's was in abilty to go to plan b against hide he was getting brutally exposed but looking so passive. i think he could of been a better fighter if manged right
i remember him being very nervous with his fight against stevens becuase he saw it as a way of becoming a hbo fighter wich will sort him out...but he ran (and i losely say this) and outboxed stevens. sadly it was a pyrrhic victory , his boring approach didnt win much fans and i fell sorry for him becuase of it becuase he can punch when he needs to and can throw alot of punches
Calzaghe. He has only won one legit belt (IBF) and he only held it for a very short period of time. Biggest waste of talent currently.
Ishe Smith: Good wins over David Estrada (who was undefeated) and Randall Bailey, then got robbed against Mora, stayed inactive, got robbed one more time (now against powell) and now is inactive again. This guy has the talent to be a world champion.
Ike Ibeabuchi - Could of been the savior of the heavyweight division. Not really the most technically skilled fighter, but was tough as hell. and his wins over David Tua and Chris Byrd proved he was an elite fighter, too bad he was a mental case. Zab Judah - Although he has enough time to still be considered to be a champion again, he should of won his bout over Tszyu. After that fight he never rebounded because he's always cocky and never mentally focused. If only he would stop acting like a clown in the ring he would more sucessful then he is now. I thought he was pretty serious against Cotto, it's just that Cotto was the better fighter that night. Andre Direll - According to Floyd Mayweather Sr. he gave Chad Dawson a butt whopping in sparring. From someone who can beat the light-heavyweight champ in sparring you would expect more from him. And even more impressive he's only a middleweight. I don't know much about him, but he was probably the type of fighter that was only sucessful in the amatuers, but can't adapt to the pros.
Stéphane Ouellet. That guy took too much coke and shits, i mean he could've been world champion but he got nowhere, ending up knocked out by Alcine in 64 seconds.
Ya beat me too it. All the physical tools to be one of the greats....none of the mental makeup or the chin. Can look like the best fighter in the world....or the worst, all in the same fight.
Dominick Guinn comes to mind as of late. A granite chin, intelligence and ability to throw in combinations combined with total apathy and laziness in the ring.
