Was watching Jones vs Toney earlier and it was noted that he weighed 168 on the scales at the official weigh-in and weighed (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) 190 on the night. That surely has to be the biggest weight gain. Any other examples?
Think that was about 20lbs. Got a lot of attention because it ended up looking like a mismatch but its not all that rare.
Actually Toney was 167 at the weigh-in and 184 on fight night. It's hard to imagine somebody beating Clottey in the Corrales fight,149 at the scales and 171 on fight night.
Nope,I'm sure it was 184 on the tale of the tape and even Roy said it when asked about weight during an interview for the Trinidad fight.
I had a light heavyweight that I trained that went from 173 to 199 over night. This kid was what you would call an extremist. No matter what he did he did it 200%. Unfortunately that also applied to his drug use, and alcohol. Had he not gotten into drugs n alcohol he could have had a very financial rewarding career. The kid could punch like nobody I ever saw. I have worked with some hard punchers... Rahman, Letterlough, and Cintron. Jeremy Stauffer punched harder then them all.
Just wondering, where are you from? and what path (studies, certificates) did you follow to become a trainer? Just asking because I want to become one someday.
Relative to how much a fighter gained compared to how much they weigh peroid, I don't think anyone beats Arce. He weighed in at 108 against Cob Castro, and promptly passed out at the weigh in. He gained a little over 20 pounds if I'm remembering correctly. He basically jumped up in weight 4 classes and was almost a lightweight. ****ing ridiculous. Not to mention that Castro is 5 feet tall, even. No joke. He looked like a kid in there with Arce.
