    From ESPN.com's "Fight Credential":
"It's the biggest welterweight fight since Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns," reckons ESPN.com's own historian and bon vivant Bert Sugar. Even though Cotto is the favorite, Sugar's taking the very live dog."

Really? Wasnt De La Hoya vs. Trinidad a lot bigger? They were both undefeated at the time. Seems like a pretty obvious omission, no?

Mosley vs De La Hoya was pretty big too.

The battle for L.A. and two top 5 P4P fighters.

you actually follow anything ESPN says when it comes to boxing?? there have been a bunch of fights in the welterweight division that was bigger than cotto-margo in the last 27 years. DLH has been involved in several of them.

It probably isn't the biggest in terms of marquee names, etc, but whenever I tell people about the upcoming fight between Cotto and Margarito, I describe it as being the biggest fight of the year.

For boxing fans, it's a huge event. For me it is anyhow.

It's a big fight. DLH-Trinidad was supposed to be the best thing since Hearns-Leonard but the fight itself sucked. It was a huge letdown.

This fight also has huge potential. If it lives up to that potential it will go down as one of the best welterweight fights ever.

Trinidad/DLH was bigger (although the fight was crap)

    This fight will not disappoint.

Biggest fight of the year is one thing, Biggest fight at Welter in the last 25 years is another.

These two are still relatively unknown as compared to Hoya and Tito in their prime.

I have the same feeling for this fight like I did for Corrales/Castillo 1. This fight is going to be amazing.

That's what your hoping for??? this thread is about it being the BIGGEST WW fight of the last 25 years, not doing "ok" at the PPV buys

    That's just hype.

It'll probably be a better fight, but it certainly wasn't BIGGER than Trinidad-De La Hoya.

How does that make him a hater. It's simply fact. Oscar vs Tito and Oscar vs Mosley were bigger fights. They were fights between prime future HOFers and truely the best of their generation. Cotto vs Floyd would be that, NOT Cotto vs Margo. On top of that, the casual fan in America doesn't even know who Margarito is.
