I had no idea he died. I vaguely remember his televised fights. I do remember the Arguello fight. I read Black Lights a few times back in the day. Jeez he died same age I am now apparently. Sad to hear.

 

Plenty of controversy there. Valle demanded Arguello re-wrap his hands minutes from the ring walk and the ensuing incident meant Arguello could barely warm up just before going out. Not only was he dry but he was by all accounts wild. Whether this had an impact on his cold start is debatable of course given his career stage.

 

It was.

 

Unless there was another Bill Costello, he was a boxing judge for years after his retirement.
