Even with only rudimentary grasp, I find the experience stimulating. Latino commentators get worked up like nobody else - save perhaps those in Japan. (the standard call for a light tap on the hip: "BUDI BUDI BUDI BUDI!! ")

 

Mauro Maximiliano Godoy vs. Miguel Leonardo Caceres III, 6 rounds @ welterweight

 

Well yeah, they're not going to have it be anyone too dangerous.

The point of this card is to showcase the Godoys. (think Argentina's version of the Kameda brothers, except that might actually be flattering the Godoy clan...)

31 year old Bruno fought in a 4-rounder on the deep undercard. 24 year old Max here is getting babied, put in with a guy he already outpointed twice in a row...

Billi "The Kid" in the main event is also getting a chance to shine at home with a defense of his minor WBC belt against the guy he already beat to claim it when it was vacant. (although Heiland did actually give him a run for his money, and Billi has since been upset by a grizzled vet with an ugly record in a non-title bout - so he is never a sure thing with his wild recklessness and proclivity toward brawls...)

 

These guys fought an eight-rounder in September, and then another in October.

Assuming everything goes to plan and Godoy takes a UD, they should have a fourth installment six-rounder in December. :!:

 

Round 1

Godoy is jabbing down at the head of Caceres, following him and turning sidelong to peer down at him between his thumbs. Caceres slinks in, rolling and ducking inside with his arms down, looking to hurl overhands at Godoy from point blank after bypassing his defenses. Godody steps around him and resets his jab to fixate it on Caceres' hairline from mid-range and drive him outside. Lots of windmilling by Caceres after dropping low and sneaking in, turning Godoy but missing wide.

Round 2

Caceres is caught with his knees bent and butt sunk low nearly to his shins by a long right cross as Godoy sundials and paws the jab at him from outside. Caceres threads his way inside and stuffs a right hook and overhand left on Godoy's jaw. More good work by Caceres, staying under the flight path of Godoy's predictably on-rails 1-2, then popping up into his face with hooks and chops while constantly orbiting.

The unofficial TyC Sports commentators' scorecard had the 2nd 10-9.5 Godoy and has it 20-18.5 Godoy.

 

Screw them, I am not doing half point rounds - even if they are 'okay'.

If there are close ones, I will find a way to split them, same as ever. (or go 10-10 is absolutely necessary...but the hell with this 9.5 crap...)

 

Round 3

Caceres is drawing the lead with his arms down, squatting quickly to make Godoy miss his 1-2 and the occasional short-hop right hand. Godoy chases him into the ropes and clubs him on the back with a couple of right hands. Caceres skirts his backside along the ropes and counters with right up-jabs from the crouch while circling right in tight around Godoy. Long straight volley by Godoy, mostly swishing the air over Caceres' head but a few rights poking him on the nose.
