Yeah. That might have warranted a 9.5

 

I love it. Both of these fellows are tough but with the sloppiness of their styles and their mutually ebbing stamina you get the feeling either could be lain out any moment, anywhere down the stretch here...

 

Round 6

Heiland is jabbing Heiland in the face and piercing into his chest with the right hand, twisting in to follow through on it, but failing to hold the country boy outside. Heiland is forcing Godoy to slug with him now, staying on top of him and slapping his sides with the right hook while sending the left on repetitive arcs up into Godoy's face. Counter fire by Godoy fails to make an impact on Heiland, although he gets in some nice flush shots. Left cross by Heiland stuns Godoy, who looks fatigued and unable to get out of the way.

Round 7

Heiland is aggressive, slashing at the sides of Godoy with both hands and stepping in with his door-knocker right jab. Godoy tosses light straight flurries on the backfoot and regroups, then moves forward as Heiland covers up. Heiland ducks and wraps himself in his forearms as Godoy flurries on him. Up snaps Heiland with a left uppercut from below the waist and a big right hook on the chin unseen from over the top, around Godoy's left arm. DOWN GOES GODOY!! He jabs and circles out the round after beating the count.

(and that is regardless of the result, even if Billi survives and edges this; if his brother's series with Caceres taught us anything it's that Godoy vs. a close rival never gets old )

 

Round 8

Heiland is whipping in body shots and grinding into Godoy. Godoy is unable to get extension on his left jab to control range, with the aggressive jumping-in right jab of Heiland landing more and occasioning more generalship with Godoy forced to retreat and flurry. Rabbit punches by Godoy, arm-weary. Heiland is himself flapping arm punches into Godoy's sides. They exchange uppercuts at point blank range. Heiland digs into his reserves and outworks the local favorite in the last ten seconds to "Sugar Ray Leonard" the round if there were any doubts.
