BJS is definitely a POS. He was calling GGG a See You Next Tuesday while acknowledging that he needed to wait for GGG to be past it before fighting him.
This isn't "banter" it's juvenile scum behavior. I hope Andrade teaches this sub-human a lesson. I don't think he will.. but I sincerely hope he hurts him.
He could be facing a temporary ban so the Andrande fight may be in jeopardy. Whatever friend he thought he had in the backseat sold him out to the media.
I forgot that fight was so soon but can't the BBBoC only impose a ban on boxers for fights it sanctions?
Since the fight with Andrade is in the US he's very unlikely to have problems with the BBBC in that regard, however the police are also investigating and any charges would indeed seriously jeopardize the fight.
Correct. The main danger to the fight is if the police (who are also investigating) lay charges. edit: in theory they can ban him and tell him not to fight in the US under pain of a longer ban, but this would be unusual.
Out of interest, what do you think of how he behaved and what, if anything, would you have the consequence be?
I think he seems to have behaved like a total idiot but I'm not sure what can be done legally to him. I guess he encouraged an act of violence but didn't carry it out and, in theory, he solicited for sex but I don't really think he was curb-crawling, lol. I can't see what law he has broken which will see any police investigation go beyond the classic 'quiet word'. What pisses me off is the fact that when one boxer acts this way, all of boxing seems to be tainted by people with an agenda against the sport. But let's be straight, it's normal a faked class-based outrage from the type of people who raise their heads above the parapet for a few days after a boxing tragedy.
There's obvious offences in regard to incitement to be honest but separate the legal side from the BBBoC side. The police will investigate and the CPS will make a decision if there's a case to bring, leave that to one side. What, if anything, should boxing's own custodians do in regard to this? It's little different to any other sport. If BJS was a premier league footballer this would be international news today. As for class based criticism, you'd have to provide some kind of evidence to back that claim up. I don't like the implication that working class people don't find what he did disgusting because I know for a fact that's utter bollocks.
