Oh dont get me wrong. Im still a fan but im a dog guy and i can't imagine why anyone would throw stones at a dog. I wont even get into McClellan. Zero respect for the man to put it nicely
Now janitor,...you know better than this (I hope)...I am a huge fan of Billy Conn's, but I don't put him, or any man, for that matter, "on a pedestal"...for if I did, then...throwing stones at a dog, or cat, etc.,...would be perfectly hunky-dory, now wouldn't it? Like the Ali worshippers here and elsewhere, who never comment on, or see anything wrong with their idol's history of racism. There is NO excuse for animal cruelty, no matter who, or what you are...that's where I draw the line. That is all.
Bet that dog wouldn't agree with you. I love Billy Conn...have always been a fan, but animal cruelty is beyond the pale...totally unacceptable, no matter who indulges in it.
I take it you're a vegetarian who wears neither leather or fur then? Fact is animal cruelty exists in everyday life in one form or other whether for food, fashion or medical purposes. Everyone turns a blind eye to that but when anyone is nasty to certain animals ie dogs or cats then everyone loses their ****. It's hypocrisy. We don't even know the context of why he threw rocks at a tethered dog. The dog could've been a vicious, snarling bast ard and tried to break it's chain to attack Billy when he was a little kid, so deserved to have some pebbles hurled at it. My neighbors German Shepard launched an unprovoked, random attack on my sweet little silky terrier a few years back and I kicked seven shades out of it to get the ***** of a thing off it and stop him killing her. Is that animal cruelty too? If it is it was justified and I'm happy to have done it (the German Shepherd later bit a little kid in our street and got destroyed and everyone bar my neighbour was happy) and I'm glad to have my little dog sitting on the foot of my bed as I type this.
I met him in Atlantic City NJ after one of the fights there. He was with a few guys having a drink by the lounge/bar area. He still looked fit and tough. I spoke to him about the Louis fight, he said Louis was the greatest ever at heavyweight. He was a gentlemen with an edge, a tough guy.
animal cruelty is unforgivable. Dosen't matter if Im a vegetarian or not. But I don't eat meant. Yea, it was trying to break the chain to get at Billy, Yea! That's the ticket!!! LOL
