How does this light heavy do in place of the French man ? Conn from the Louis fight taking on the mauler At his best ,needing surely More than the luck of the Irish . My personal thought s are Conn does well for at least 6 rounds, until the body attack of Jack finishes him .
Conn would give Jack fits for several rounds imo , but eventually in the late second half of the fight I think Dempsey nails him.
Dempsey by round 5 to 8. Perhaps the more interesting fight would be Conn vs Carpentier. How would you see that fight going, OP Fergy? (sorry to derail your thread, just honestly interested in your opinion)
No problem .would be a good matchup. Both decent fighters. Carp , the bigger puncher ,conn also a excellent boxer. I'm going to go for a possible similar fight to conn v Louis 1.conn ahead on point s going late in to the rounds ,then the Frenchman catching Billy and hurting him badly. Conn try s to hit back but carp end's it for the count.
Good analysis. To be honest, I always liked boxing, but the thing that really got me hooked 18 years ago (as an 18 year old), was a collection of vhs tapes I bought from a car boot sale. One featured Carpentier. Always had a soft spot
Nice one ,good little story. To be honest ,the first time I saw Dempsey was the highlights of his fight with Carpentier . Catching Jack as he came in and stunning him. Then Dempsey roaring back . That was even before I'd seen Willard getting hammered. Think we all have our soft spots for certain fighter s .
