Billy Conn outboxes Calzaghe and probably stops him well before the 12th round of a 15 round fight. Conn was one of the greatest light heavyweights of all time, and dropping weight only makes him that much quicker and deadlier. Joe Calzaghe wouldn't last 3 rounds with Joe Louis, and I can't honestly see him lasting the distance against Billy Conn.

I think Conn was more at home @ 175 spending most of his prime there but Calzage had a knack at adjustment....I see this being a close matched fight with 2 very smart men in there.....and it would be a close one to go to the cards.....

i think these sorts of threads are a little futile as imo calzaghe doesn't beat a single great LHW in the history of the sport.

168 seemed to suit his build and game down to the ground.

Conn by a mile. Could anyone imagine Calzaghe fighting a 200 Lb. Man? Let alone a 200Lb. Man named Joe Louis?

Conn, while a superb boxer ,was not a very heavy puncher and Calzaghe has a fine chin and great self belief and determination,he goes the distance ,imo.

As highly as I think of Calzaghe, Billy Conn beats him. Conn, besides eing a great boxer, fought like a lion, and I wouldn't be surprised if he even stopped Joe in 13 or 14. They don't make 'em like Billy Conn anymore. He would have cleaned out the lightheavy division today, and that includes Hopkins.
