At what weight? They both fought from WW-LHW, WW-MW I take Burley, at LHW it maybe Conn territary but I'm not sure a 167lb Conn is too much for Burley to handle or not.

Yeah, they didn't want him. I think Burley would have beaten him, and I don't say that lightly.

Well at Conn's light heavy best he has the ability to outwork him. At Burley's respective best, regardless of weight, he has the ability to nullify Conn.

Agree 100 %...Billy morphed into a terrific lightheavyweight too big for the smaller counterpuncher Burley...There were few if any 170 pound fighters in history that could give the 200 pound devastating hitter Joe Louis such a battle for thirteen rounds...Despite Irish Billy's Hollywood looks Conn was some tough pugnacious dude. Before he almost beat Louis in 1941, Conn beat solly Kreiger, Young Corbett, Fred Apostoli 2, Melio Bettina 2, Gus Lesnevich 2, Kod Bob Pastor, Gunnar Barlund, beat Lee Savold, Al McCoy, Tony Zale, and hadn't lost a fight in 3 years...He had great speed, very quick hands, and a love of battle...Billy should never be underated when in his prime...

No1 avoided d colored fighters of his (Conn's) era better than Billy Conn .
He got destroyed by d not so mildly ________ , well , not so sharp :yep Joe Louis twice , but don't Xpect a different ending if he fought Lloyd Marshall or d still smaller (than Louis) , but also sharper (if u know what i mean) Arnold Cream . It's not just Burley whom he ducked , but d huge (4 a lightheavyweight and especially below) Billy Conn was a worse Xcuse 4 a titlist than Virgil Hill . i truly respect Hill better . At least Hill stopped Fabrice Tiozzo and fought Maske , Michalczewski and Mormeck .

I would take Charley at WW & MW. LHW I feel Conn would be to much for Burley to overcome.

there is NO Burley at MW or Conn at L-HW, stop talking ****.

the best possible place they could meet would be at about 170, which is ofcourse L-HW and Billy (depending when) might have had to shave a few pounds, where as Burley could have weighed in comfortable with NO preasure at about 160 - 165lbs.

this would have been a catch weight contest in the early 40s, circa 39-42,
and though Burley was a great and beat some big boys, I would bet a Conn victory. Conn was at his rolling best then and this is the only time they couild have met because of the weight divisions they fought in, and I just don't think Burley would have pulled it off!

This one is too close to call.
I haven't seen much footage of Burley though.
