Actually Lewis' wins over Golotta , Grant , Morrisson , Ruddock were more impressing than Liston's wins over Williams , Folley , etc. sorry that my internet is extremely slow where I am now (I watched a man riding a horse holding a long stick a few hours ago and suffered an intentional power off in the previous place where I sat , I don't live in Scandinavia / Japan) and because of the horrible slowness I can't boxrec , but Lewis destroyed more formidable HWs than Liston did and more proven without bigger difficulties
I think the only question regarding a well timed uppercut is whether or not Conn would actually leave the ground or not.
After a round or two of conn circling the ring and jabbing Lewis 'lennox would connect with a A_bomb and conn would be doing a Irish jig. Lewis ko 3
Giving Louis a competitive fight does not necessarily translate into doing the same against Lewis, or indeed against Marciano or Carnera. However great Louis was, the size difference was manageable (just about), and the stylistic matchup was good for Conn. I am sure Conn could give Lewis some problems with his speed and movement, but he would only be putting off the inevitable. There was talk of matching Lewis against Roy Jones at one point, and it might have been interesting, if only because it would have given some input for these sort of match ups.
Only in this section could it be possible this is actually being discussed as a even remote chance for Conn..Wilder is 100 to 1 in his next fight....this match would probably be 500 to 1 at least....only in this section where everything is possible to that of the imagination to the point some are even pointing out RJJ could have somewhat gave us an insight to how Conn would have done???? Some of these responses ( SOME ) are pure fantasy land ( theres nothing to underate here...you have a former 140 pounder vs a 240 plus SHW who could have defeatted anyone to ever box on any given day that ONE point should be enough) that by pass an actual opinion by about the distance from the earth to the moon.
You don't seem to be able to comprehend any variable other than the size of the fighters in these debates. Incidentally, whose prediction exactly are you objecting to? Nobody has actually picked Conn!
I think that the size difference lets some people’s imaginations run away with them in this thread. Conn is still allowed to fight his own fight here. Q. Have any fighters the size of Conn been successful against modern superheavyweights. A. No. Q. Was this because they simply couldn’t compete against them, or was it because modern train ng methods made them bigger? A. Clearly it was because modern training methods made them bigger. Q. Was the fact that they were able to bulk up, the decisive factor in them being competitive? A. Not necessarily. Q. Could Conn be competitive in the current heavyweight environment, or that of the 90s? A. Potentially yes, because fighters of similar size stepped up to do it. Q. Anything to add? A. He is probably the absolute lower limit of what could be a factor in that heavyweight division.
There is NO factor about Conn winning against Lewis and only a fool would suggest any scenerio for it. you are the same guy who cant comprehend that 40's foreman was better. Even though he personally told me he was the total package in that era. He doesnt even have to tell me this because it should be obvious. He thinks he would have beat liston at that time ,not in the 70's as well...please use logic bc most of your scenerios really dont make sense.
So who is the fool who has suggested such a scenario? I can't see anybody. OK, I will have a go. Let’s say that Lewis tore his rotator cuff early in the fight, or broke both his hands like Max Baer did in the Braddock fight? There is no such thing as an absolute in boxing.
Oh boy.... the fact that some on this thread cant see or make a clear outcome on THIS thread ...let alone the thread actually exists says it all. You were the one who brought up RJJ and stated had he fought Lewis would have given us a better indication? Please just stop! lmao
