Conn would need to be on top of his game but I think in the end he could take home a decision, which sounds crazy to me at first since I rate Baer much higher
Difficult one to call. Conn had an excellent chin and a very good style against the bigger guys. He was able to get in and out, scoring with flurries while presenting a moving target. From what I can uncover from their fight, Loughran handled Baer pretty comfortably, but I stand to be corrected on that if anyone has any more detailed reports from that one. It was to be fair a pretty green Baer though, who was struggling mentally after the Campbell tragedy and didn't get his career on track until some time after. Regardless, I can see Baer having trouble with speed and movement, which Conn would present as much as anyone he faced in his career. On the flipside, we're talking about a monster hitter in Baer, and if we're assuming the best version of either fighter, it's an awful lot to ask of Conn to overcome a 30-40lbs size disadvantage against one of the hardest right-hand punchers in history. I'd probably lean towards something similar to the first fight with Louis, where Conn gives him fits, is ahead on the cards, but walks into something late on. You never knew which Baer would show up, but if we're taking the guy from the Schmeling fight there was an intensity that could oversome a lot of skill and style disadvantages.
After thinking about it, how id go, Conn avoiding the same fate as against Louis and getting a decision
