Sonny wins by knockout. Conn could keep the Listons and Foremans off him for a while, and would pick up his share of points, but as soon as he's cornered it's all over.
:rofl Im glad you brought up Machen. He gave Liston fits and exposed Liston as slow, impatient, and easily frustrated with opponents that employed movement. Machen was in survival mode in his bout with Liston. Unwilling to mix with Liston. In his bout with Louis, Conn demonstrated that he wasn't intimadated by big scary punchers. This along with the fact that Sonnys' reflexes wern't nearly as sharp or as quick as Louis', could lead to an embarrasing loss for liston. Conn 15rd. decision
Billy Conn by decision. Billy Conn was best lightheavyweight since Tunney. Vastly forgotten today, but just look at the 169 pound Conn fight Louis in 1941. And also marvel at the unmatched perfection of Joe Louis's beautiful combinations. Unmatched in boxing history...If Louis took 13 rounds to nail Conn, the much slower moving Liston, wouldn't catch Billy at all...
conn would have a chance to survive running during all the fight, but he would not have chance to win the fight, plain and simple.
whattt?:rofl:rofl:rofl joe louis had faster hands than liston, BUT HIS LEGS WERE SLOW LIKE THE HELL!!!! LOUIS WAS MUCH MORE STATIC THAN LISTON, LISTON HAD MUCH BETTER AND HARDER JAB AND MUCH LONGER REACH. CONN SHOULD FIGHT TO SURVIVE, HE WOULD NOT WIN THE FIGHT
Wrong ! Louis could cut the ring off better than anyone. His hands were MUCH,MUCHER faster than Liston's were, and i believe it is the hand's that reach an opponents face, wouldn't you ? Eddie Machen avoided Liston's ko punch and Machen was no Billy Conn. Few in history had Billy Conn's speed, heart and stamina. Billy by decision.
if you are slow with your feet, is not matter if you have the fastest hands ever, because you will not catch your rival... joe louis was static like the hell, even ali said it.
As I have already explained, Machen showed how to beat Liston. However, he was strictly in survival mode. Also as I have already explained, Conn was not intimadated by big punchers like Liston. He traded with Louis who was quicker then Liston. Taking both good body and head shots while firing back. As for Liston cornering Conn, what happehed when cornered by Louis? Thats right, nothing. This is by no means a walk for Liston. And unless Billy gets stupid again he could take a decision with Liston
if you are happy saying that conn would win... ok... xd but everyone here know that liston would kill him . hahaha
