http://www.aus-boxing.com/2011/09/15/billy-dib-to-defend-world-title-in-sydney/ IBF featherweight world champion Billy Dib will be making his first title defense in Sydney on November 19. 'The Kid' won the title on July 29th against Mexican, Jorge Lacierva. Since then Dib has been relaxing with his family enjoying Ramadan and is currently in the states where he has met some of the top names, including Victor Ortiz and Floyd Mayweather. An opponent is yet to be named but Billy's brother Emaid has said that it will be a top 15 ranked opponent. While in America, Billy has met with his previous promoters Golden Boy who are keen to have him back fighting in the states. Billy has talked about taking 1 fight a year to America but is keep to build his name in Australia. Victor Ortiz will be coming out in November for some surfing and to watch Billy in his title defense.
In all honesty Wheatley's articles is C-standard journalism at its best. I dunno how da fuk he writes for fightnews. I rememba when he copied your report from Yamaguchi's fite with Lerio and he wasn't even there.
I hear they been lookin @ IBF Pan Pac champion Tantong Kiatweesuk. They are waiting for Choc to fight Alvarez before its announced.
Id assume gbp arent that interested in billy again....they just want his belt. Dibs name was brought up on the hbo coverage last week and jim lampley said about dib "let him stay in australia and fight there" Id be surprised if they aired him again, despite gbp influence. But good luck to him if he can do something with his belt and land a decent fight. He seems to have woken up to himself a bit and is working hard now. Cant knock that.
