I read that Luis Franco, before he pulled out of this fight, was only going to get paid $20,000 to fight Dib. I assume Gradovich is getting the same. He seems a little green, so this would be some victory for him if he could pull it off.
These type of fighters add so much to boxing because there is a likelihood that one day they do get KO'd. That doesn't happen to a-holes like Manny Ramirez and A-fraud in baseball.
Dib is a legend in his own mind, and the bizarre Franco situation only stokes his coals... :-( Dib has been claiming for years that Chris John is ducking him in mortal fear (even though he isn't considered by anyone outside of Oz to be half as dangerous as someone like a Daud Yordan) - and more recently Mikey Garcia...and obviously now Luis Franco. :yep :!: 20k is probably still a jump for Gradovich. He'll definitely be hungry to elevate his station, whereas Dib has already had a taste and may be getting complacent...
Looks like plenty of money has come in on Gradovich. I eventually threw my hands up on this one. But I think important factors could be: for EG, his punch accuracy and selection at mid and close range. Dib, likes to get slippery and negative at this distance. But EG has more ways to touch him than most. For Gib: EG's lack of evasiveness or movement outside. Noticed that early, Rodriquez was able to slip a lot of those potshots and then do his work. Maybe EG just catches them in the face and Dib puts enough stopping power on them to dictate the fight.
Hi, The Peterson Holt fight showed last week on friday night fights, on ESPN America, however tonights Billy Dib fight isn't showing on the listings? Anywhere to see it other than the obvious streams, which I don't like too much cos' of the picture quality. Thanks
Some of the fights I find most enjoyable are guys I don't like getting beaten. Nas vs. MAB. Khan vs. Garcia Margarito vs. Mosley RJJ vs. Tarver 2 Watching Dib lose tonight would be a great way to start the weekend.
The poll seems pretty even for now. I'm riding with the Mexican-Russian. Sorry, 50 Cent, I think your man's going down! At least you still have the exciting Gamboa!
Have to admit, I was gleeful over all of those myself. :yep I don't even particularly dislike Jones, but "got any excuses tonight, Roy" was ****ing epic.
I actually met Tarver after the Ward/Abraham fight. I told him how much I loved that. There was a guy at work who was one of those Yankee baseball/U of Miami football/Duke basketball kind of guys. A front runner and self proclaimed huge Jones fan. He kept talking about how Roy was going to dominate this time and had the fight party. Shutting him and Roy up was epic.
