I've said it before, but people like myself, the casual observer are the only ones who keep boxing alive, there aren't enough boxing lunatics in Australia, boxing must rely on people like me, my opinion & view of what happens is incredibly important, what I see & what I feel just may reflect what the majority of punters think
Should we get you a medal, seeing as though youre clearly boxings saviour in this country. I mean youve probably never been to a fight, paid for a PPV, bought a magazine etc but you clearly keep the sport afloat with youre casual indifference and inflated sense of self worth.
Watched a few fights, been to a world title fight in Vegas etc As sarcastic as you want to be, what I say is true, obviously when I intimate that I'm this & I'm that I'm referring to the man in the street, the casual observer, the bloke who usually watches mainly one of the "footballs" cricket etc but has a rudimentary knowledge of boxing & enjoys the odd view, they are obviously the majority viewing boxing in this country whether you like it or not
Casual observer of the sport but you have 5000 posts on a forum??? Do the other men on the street post here or other sites?
Think you'll find that 90% of my posts have been made in the lounge, interesting subjects sometimes & the rest probably on footy, don't think I've ever posted in the boxing forum
Fark you deserve a medal with nearly six grand of posts WOR.... Keep going mate, you cant be all that obnoxious to us avid boxing fans with such a record.
****ing oath i'm obnoxious, i'm a smart arse, know it all, sarcastic... But, strangely my devils advocate approach may provide food for thought on the odd occasion
Boxing fights in AUS, PPV arent usually on the weekend, they are on a weekday, usually wed, so hows the casual AUS boxing fan going to break his weekly schedule and get down to the pub in the middle of a working week to watch a boxing fight if he dont follow the sport ? the majority of boxing fans in AUS are the ones who do break their working week and head down on a week day to watch the fight because THEY FOLLOW THE SPORT, not the bulllsht your trying to spin.
Come on Ty; focus on this game's culprits, not the audience or gallery, who might get confused in their limited knowledge. Things that bother you or me, might not affect the average punter; it is these people/fans that we need to delicately inform about the situations, facts and politics of our sport; it is better to do this by detailing the facts, and encouraging processes of thought to change the game; not to abuse those who do not feel the same way you/we do...
Cmon, you could walk into any pub or club showing boxing on a wednesday night or fights from America on a Sunday arvo etc & you'd be frustrated talking to 95% of the blokes there watching, you might take extra time to get stuck into watching fights on youtube & studying them, analysing them etc but most blokes there dont, they are just fellas who wander down for a few beers & to watch fellas try & knock each others heads off, but the money they put over the bar encourages that same pub to get ppv again etc, its not the boxing mad blokes like you & others on here who generate the interest & money
So you keep repeating WOR.....but the cold reality is that the casual observer simply adds to the small fortunes being amassed by a select few Australian fighters and promoters. Like every other sport struggling or at the top of the heap they are driven by the grass roots fans.....not you the casual once in a while watch a big ticket PPV fight at the local (of which there are very few) pub. I gaurantee that the grass root fan who gets out and attends regular fight nights at the local metropolitan or country venues invariably talks his casual observer mates into joining him at the PPV venues to watch the big fights on TV.....so really you are not driving the sport...sorry to inform you mate and shatter your comfortable world of self inflicted ignorance.
I doubt there are really enough devoted fight fans Ev en the blokes going to the local club to watch live shows etc are usually just locals who get a bunch of mates together to go watch some legalised violence, i doubt they actually know who's up who & who's paying I've done it myself years ago, a mate says "so what we going to do saturday night??" then another says " is see there are fights on over at the ........ club" decision made, its something to do, we didnt know anything about the boxers or much about the nuances of boxing, but its a night out, its blokey, theres beer, scantily dressed ring girls, & blokes trying to legally bash **** out of each other, it really shouldnt be to hard to market if the price is right Like i said, try & have a sensible, critical conversation at a pub when boxings on, i bet you end up getting frustrated & walk away, you'll hear some absolute crazy ****, peoples perceptions etc, if you think it gets bad on here, the real world amongst so called boxing fans is unreal atsch
Your example is totally remote from reality. I went to about 6 live fight nights last year and the casual fan is not gonna pay upwards of $40+ for general standing room tickets just cause it's at a local clubatsch.....you are really far removed which would explain your simple logic regarding the machinations of boxing at the roots level...or any level.
