By school you mean run for dear life popping out the jab, then claim a boxing clinic and cry robbery. Nailed on.
There seems to be some mystique about certain fighters if they’re from a specific background. Cubans tend to get it. Travellers are the same. People at one stage were talking about Hughie becoming the youngest world champion ever don’t forget. Saunders isn’t bad but the comparisons with Klitschko v Fury are ridiculous. Wlad was at the end of his career whereas Canelo is in his prime. Also, Fury may not have beaten a murderers row before Klitschko but he’d beaten Hammer, Chisora, Johnson and so on very easily. Saunders has had major difficulty with Akavov, Ryder and Lee. His only ‘elite’ performance was Lemieux and that fight was ages ago. To answer your point, the exact same people who love Fury are using the same Fury/traveller/underdog/fights to the level of his opponent ‘argument’ to say why they want Saunders to win.
Can't argue with that. I've got no problem with travellers, I know a few and they're sound. Im also a fury fan since way back, but for every fury or Saunders there's 100 travellers getting banged out in small halls. Your background/heritage means nothing when it comes to these big fights.
BJS is talented, no doubt but he’s a weight above where he should be and a lot of how good he is considered is based on unrealised potential. He could cause Canelo some problems but I can’t see him winning. Canelo will be juiced to the gills and fight like an absolute beast. He was happy to take Golovkin’s shots so won’t think twice about BJS. (I thought Canelo lost to GGG first time around and the second could’ve gone either way but GGG is the best middleweight of this era, BJS has shown nothing to suggest he’s at that level). I want BJS to win, I just can’t see it. It’s a payday. Hopefully he heads back to middle afterwards and tries to build a real legacy but I imagine he semi retires with the cash in the bank.
BJS will get stopped I think. His no SMW and I see him slowing down by the middle rounds and Canelo stops him late.
What a load of rubbish. You see crap and low level traveller boxers all the time if you bothered to actually go to shows other than AJs. You are letting your own prejudice get in the way of the truth.
Of course you see low level traveller boxers. You're just backing up my point. Some people have this mystique about traveller boxers which just doesn't stack up. The comparisons between Klitschko Fury and Canelo Saunders are as follows: they're both undefeated underdogs. That's where the realistic comparisons end. Canelo is in his prime whilst Klitschko was at the end of his career. Fury was coming off a run of wide margin wins against lower level opponents. Saunders is coming off a run of average, got the job done in the end performances. Fury was fighting at his best weight. Saunders is fighting above his best weight. Canelo is coming in off the back of demolishing a huge punching world champion. Klitschko came in after looking average against Bryant Jennings. I don't get why anyone is making the comparison.
I really don't see it. He's looked awful at 168. He was great for half a fight prior to joining the Ingle gym, then blew out of his arse for the second half. Then he joined Ingle gym and this suddenly went away, giving rise to his career best performance against the flat footed Lemieux. He failed a PED test, and has looked trash ever since. He's technically excellent but has managed to escape a lot of critique of past performances in recent times. It's a win win for me. Either Saunders suddenly shows up and gives us a high quality fight, or he gets battered by Canelo.
The weight Saunders fans give to the Lemiuex fight seems utterly disproportionate to the ability of Lemiuex himself and in the wider context of Saunders' reasonable substantial career where he's looked leagues below the elite. I know styles make fights and so on but if we take Canelo and Golovkin as the elite and compare opponents we have Golovkin battering Lemiuex just as convincingly if not moreso than Saunders did. When Saunders was mincing around the ring losing rounds and needing a stoppage to beat Coceres Canelo was stopping Kovalev. When Saunders was laboriously going over the motions against the haplessly outmatched Isufi Canelo was beating Jacobs. Utter chalk and cheese.
and Lemieux is still probably his best win, fighting useless bums your whole career (and looking crap doing it) isn't going to prepare you for canelo who will finish BJS in the late rounds.
Agreed! Saunders at S/M is going to have a hard night against Canelo. Great mover but he does not have the power or physical strength to compete with him
I dont think their is a mystique with Travellers at all, i think thats you projecting to be honest. You will always get 1 or 2 but the vast majority dont. Stop taking 1 or 2 POVs and tarring everybody with the same brush.
