Bull**** you idolize him, there's little to no distinctions that you make. Sure, you probably don't agree with his stance on gays, but you compartmentalize it and rationalize it away.

I've been accused of being mean spirited as well. What would you prefer in life, someone who pretends like he's a godly, pure and virtuous, but harbours demented ideals. Or someone who lets it all fly, both the good and the bad, for the whole world to see?

So what? You've never done the "homo says what?" thing? I find that hard to believe. He was just goofing around, playing the role of a heel well. I thought it was funny. Was it mean, yes... but still funny.

Because at his best, he has one of the most sublime skillsets in the sport. Is usually a joy to watch, and oddly enough, I find his personality and brutal honesty, quite amusing. He's an a-hole, who understands and is at peace with the fact that he's an a-hole. And doesn't feel like compromising himself and kissing ass being a fraud to make people like him or to appeal to anyone. Gee, I wonder why I"m a fan?

Possibly, but thus far, all he's done is mock the looks of some gay person. However, he's friends with Delboy. Who's bi. So I doubt he's quite as extreme as the Pacman.

Nope. You can't find a single post of mine praising his political work or him as a politician. It's pretty obvious that his fame got him into politics and he most likely is a poor leader in the political space (philanthropy aside). When he cites god, I cringe and wish he'd STFU. But none of that is relevant. I'm a fan of Manny Pacquiao the boxer and to a very small insignificant degree, as a person.

I idolize no one. Not even Thom Yorke whom I'm a bigger fan of than Manny Pacquiao.

BJS is a certified POS. His antics reflect a genuine enjoyment in abusing others.

All I see is someone trying rationalize their way through having clear as day double standard. You hold one up that you're not fond of, to a harsh standard, adn let the other one slide, and say nothing, because yes... he's your idol.

For the record, I'm also being consistent. I love Manny, but disagree with him in that area vehemently. Does Saunders take his childish antics too far sometimes? Certainly. But sometimes he gets carried away when being a trolling dickhead. It's understandable. I can get frenzied too.

He basically is a real life troll. He had his son punch one of his opponents in the nuts at the weigh, the homeless person stunt, the “how to” beat your wife video, etc.

I mean it’s not too surprising since he’s a pikey lol. I would laugh if he beat Canelo though I doubt he does.

You know what I find fascinating, is Billy Joe's Dad Tom Saunders.

Tom Saunders seems like a genuine bloke, a stand up guy, who commands respect and conducts himself in an honorary way. Tom Saunders seems to be the complete opposite of his son. And you look at how proud Tom is of his son, I find this to be at odds with how his Son conducts himself.

On the one hand, Tom said the whole thing about the ring size was about being respected, as a Gypsy traveling man, who isn't just a YES man who has come over here to have his son lay down. He's made it clear that he's not just coming here to thank Canelo for the opportunity only to lay down and walk away with a pay check, as other British fighters have done in the past. Tom and his Son have made it clear that they are coming here to win. This is about the Gyspy's calling the shots, the Gypsy's are the ones making demands and Canelo has to agree to their demands. It's the Gypsy's who have told Canelo what the ring size is gonna be, right, not the other way around. That's what this is all about for Tom, it's not about the $$ so much, it's about seeking and gaining respect and finally after all these years being on a level playing field in the pinnacle of his son's boxing career. All that I can understand, from the standpoint of how Gypsy's have been treated historically, now it's the Gypsy's time to shine. I get that 100%.

But here's what I struggle with, and maybe someone can help me understand this. What does Tom Saunders think of his Son's attitude towards others? Surely Tom Saunders must take exception with some of his Son's antics. Does Tom Saunders look the kind of guy who would embarrass someone like Billy Joe did to that Mexican reporter? Does Tom Saunders look like the kind of guy who would make fun of someone less fortunate like Billy Joe would?

I see that Tom Saunders is a Father who desperately wants to be proud of his son, but clearly Tom has a much higher code of conduct than his son has. This to me is puzzling. Surely behind the scenes, Tom and Billy Joe must have had their share of disagreements. And I would imagine that Tom has many reservations about how his Son conducts himself. Surely Tom must disagree with a lot of the ways that Billy conducts himself in public, and Tom seems to be the kind of guy that would scold his Son when he makes a mockery of himself. But on some Level, Tom must feel that even though his son conducts himself like an A-hole most of the time, he realizes that he's still his Son and that he supports him no Matter what. And not only that, despite Billy's crude and unpleasant attitude, he has been very successful as a person. Just looking at Billy's life and how far he's come, particularly in regards to his success as a boxer, I think that despite their disgreements, it's hard for Tom to really fault Billy outside of how he conducts himself.

I guess that's the true definition of a Father, to support your son unconditonally, even when his son does things and treats people poorly in a way that he wouldn't, that go against his own code of conduct. I know that deep down, that Tom Saunders feels that Billy just doesn't understand that the way Billy conducts himself makes it hard to get the kind of respect from the public that he is seeking for himself, his family, and for all Gypsies. The way Billy acts and frolics about acting like a complete A-hole joker just seems to be completely at odds with the kind of a man that Tom Saunders, his father, is and the kind of a man that he wants his son to be. And Tom must realize by now that Billy will never get the respect that he commands of himself and of the Gypsy community unless Billy handles himself with class and honor, which Billy seems to be totally incapable of doing. Still, Tom knows who Billy really is deep down, but Billy does not do himself or his father or his Gypsy bretheren any favors by acting like a fool and making fun of people and treating people so badly.

Tom must feel helpless at times seeing the influence that Tyson Fury has on his son and turn his son away from being the proud honorable Gypsy man that Tom wants Billy to be. Because when Tom Saunders speaks, in the interviews he did this week, Tom Saunders seems like a stand up guy who tried to raise his son right, that I can respect. But maybe in this case the apple just fell far from the tree and Billy Joe just didn't turn out the way that Tom raised him to be, in how he conducts himself and treats others. But at the same time, Billy has turned out the way that Tom wanted him to be in terms of how successful Billy is as a boxer and as a family man. On that aspect, Tom couldn't be prouder of Billy, as Billy's success as a boxer has probably surpassed Tom's wildest expectations of his son. But it seems that while Tom is immensely proud of the success Billy has had, he must feel helpless to set Billy on the right path when it comes to how he conducts himself and treats others, but regardless of how much he disagrees with how poorly Billy conducts himself in public, and how often Billy makes an arse of himself, Tom still is proud of the man Billy has become. Tom knows Billy better than anyone, and knows that there's a good honorable Gypsy man somewhere inside that hard crude shell of a man that is his son.
