I personally did what now? IDGAF about baseball, especially the cringe worthy Red Sox Nation.

 

I was a Nomar Garciaparra fan and never forgave this ownership for the way they cast him aside. That was the point that I realized loyalty in team sports meant jack**** (later reinforced by the Celtics prioritizing their petty short term agendas and failing to let an ATG like Pierce finish his career in green). The hell with laundry. From that point on I rooted solely for individual players (and not the ones that get all the All Star votes and bandwagon followers, I mean salt of the earth hardworking fundamentals guys like Ichiro Suzuki, who remained my fave player and only reason for even following MLB anymore for several years) and then finally just lost interest altogether.

When the "Idiots" squad broke the 86 year curse in '04 it didn't even register for me. I had ceased to care. Nomar should've been a part of it.

 

Oh and Sweet Caroline is the worst song of all time. When I was a kid they didn't play that at Fenway. I hate the whole culture of smirking "we're the best and nobody is as passionate as us (even though many of us know absolutely nothing about each sport in general and don't watch games outside the regional market or know any general history/trivia...)" fandom that has built around the Sox and Boston sports teams in general the last couple decades and that song is emblematic of it. (especially the ultra-annoying "BAM-BAM-BAM" part that makes it hard to resist punching the nearest chowderhead in the face)
