He failed a drug test before his next scheduled fight & never fully regained his standing or form.

It was the moment he transformed into BJ Sinus.

I was looking at photos of both just now and they looked like twins.

    I see.

    Absolutely.

I thought that you were talking about skills/style.

Good job on ignoring all the "lesser guys" that Barkley struggled with too. That argument bites both ways.

I’m looking at him at MW.

    The clash of styles.

We don’t need to look at his losses at the higher weights.

Or to guys like Benn and James, who had completely different styles.

Billy was a very gifted southpaw with only respectable power.

The nearest thing to Billy, was Michael Nunn.

And a prime Michael Nunn was more gifted than Billy.

Go and watch the fight. I watched it again the other year.

I’m not saying that Billy couldn’t have won. But there’s nothing to suggest that it would have been very comfortable for him.

I think it's clear that Nunn underestimated Barkley and was just trying to coast and look cool against most fighters at that point. He had the masterclass win against Frank Tate, then shuts out Roldan, then becomes the only person to knock out Kalambay (in just one round, mind you), and seems to not be taking Marlon Starling too serious in the fight following Iran, either.

Michael was no doubt an ATG at middleweight, but he liked to show off tons. When he was riding high, he had the sort of ego that Ali had. Iran still put up a good showing against him, but I wouldn't rate it too highly.

He may well have underestimated him going into the fight.

But he was in good shape and he couldn’t keep him off of him.

Barkley was a tough opponent if you couldn’t deter or overpower him.

This would have been a tough match up for Billy.

Saunders like Kalambay ? Saunders best win is Andy Lee lol Kalambay schooled a great fighter in Mike McCallum in his prime

Kalambay is a level above Saunders for certain Saunders never reached the upper echelon levels that Kalambay did.

Also Barkley beating Hearns twice is miles better than any win on Saunders resume which is quite forgettable in all honestly.

Saunders really did very little. I actually felt Eubanks jnr beat him.

An Iran Barkley would knock him out.

I'm flabbergasted that anyone could equate Saunders to the masterful boxer Kalambay.Flabbergasted.

And as for the contention Barkley couldnt get to Saunders due to his ' speed and skills' well he got to Hearns,Kinchen and Olajide who were all faster and more skilled.

Saunders has no substance and he quit after taking one solid shot from Canelo. Imagine what a Barkley,MW Duran or Jackson would've done to his face.
