Absolutely no interest in him outside the ring. Even if he announces he’s fighting, just wake me up on fight week.
I've lost interest in Saunders with his repeated pull outs, drugs and disgraceful behaviour outside of the ring. He really has ****ed away his talent. I don't see him fighting on DAZN as a challenger where he will now get the minority share of the money, and I don't see any of the belt holders wanting to give him a shot.
It's all this and more. Whilst he had a belt - even the WBO one - he was always an option for a unification fight or a financially backed challenger. Who'd fight him if they didn't have to? They'd probably lose and be in the position he is in now. He's well top of the "one to avoid" list - not just because of his undoubted (say what you like about him as a person) talent but because of his rep.
At risk of being an outrage-merchant, I'm afraid I just don't want to support bullying and mean-spirited people (outside of the ring). No interest in Billy Joe Saunders. He's talked me out of it.
I genuinely can't understand how anyone can like the guy. Genuinely comes across as the sort of person that the world would be better off without.
Matchroom like any other promotional company are interested in money. How do you make money out of Saunders? No title, no fans, no one wants to fight him, a drug cheat, a complete cretin outside the ring and a fairly boring fighter. He's arguably impossible to promote.
It's not necessarily about whether you like him or not. It's whether you rate his boxing ability. I dont really care for bjs as a person but I do appreciate the guy can box. And I like to watch him fight
