Leaving aside the matter of the positive test/spray/disputes between WADA and VADA etc, as I understood the hearing process, Saunders may have an at least arguable claim against MSAC, who didn't appear to be operating according to their own written procedures.

Now the original stance was he wouldn't box again until an appeal, which I wondered at maybe being linked to a claim for loss of earnings, perhaps that was just a cover though. Maybe the case isn't as strong as I thought and MSAC loaded their procedures with sufficient clauses to let them act as they saw fit?

If we are to take the Saunders camp at their word he let himself go in the wake of losing his title and was in a bad place mentally. Just getting him back in the ring, against whatever opponent at whatever weight may be a victory in itself if it gets him back in the right frame of mind.

Whatever his flaws as a human being I think he's a fantastic talent and I hope that we see him back in shape in 2019 and looking to prove himself in the ring. In shape, mentally and physically, he'll be a handful for any of the current belt holders.
