Billys neck aside, I just don't think burns has that desire anymore , the kid has been in some tough fights and always given 100 per cent but of late he just doesn't seem to be at the races , personally I would like to see him make a few quid and call it quits, great boxer who imo over achieved with the assistance of billy and frank

Another bait billy nelson thread. Yawn. It's a massive shame a bunch of moronic internet 'experts' are trying to drive someone directly involved with the sport off of this forum with personal attacks.

Get a grip guys. If Billy Nelson wasn't on this forum there is no chance he'd be discussed this much on here.

    question -

I dont get why ricky burns was boxing in leeds last night ....I would have bet money on him boxing a huge headliner vs willie limond in glasgow by now...be a huge fight up there...and a winnable (even for heavier slower burns) fight against an ageing domestic opponent with a nice british title at a new higher weight for the cv.

to me it would have been comparable to that fight last night competitively.....except its a certain sell out headliner in glasgow. there has to be a simple obvious reason, i dont get it though......tyrone nurse didnt take limond fight and he was in line for it. i wonder why this obvious money-spinner didnt happen.

I'm missing something here....on a leeds undercard...against an opponent with only one loss who fans wont have been familiar with...doesnt make sense...to me anyway

he did,i couldnt work that out?

if he was tight at the weight before i thought he would have easily moved up then sims says he is too small at the weight!!weird all round

id imagine Burns fought in Leeds was to get him away from Glasgow and the pressure?...it is hard not to like Burns but he has more defeats on the way which is a shame really

Dogie Limond is going to fight for Euro title I believe, and tbh Ricky would struggle v Limond just now. That's how far he has fallen, Willie v Woodhouse was a lot better than Ricky last night. If Riky wants to fight on him v Curtis would have been a good domestic LWW fight at this point

well...all the more reason for limond to chase a big payday v burns...and then chase euro belt.

Dougie It would, but now Team Burns have changed mind, from being to big to be a LW and him killing him to make weight, and him now being a LWW he is now capable of doing LW easy. Its not weight that's problem it's fact Ricky is finished at route level, his camp and him should know that

its nothing to do with weight, age, form for ricky. it all boils down to him being done mentally after the beltran fight.

What's billys shape got to do with it ,it's his boxing brain and experience that matters with training boxers ,**** me alex Ferguson had a big red nose from knocking back the plonk night after night and his teams ruled england for 20 years ,he didn't have to live like a monk and have a body of a Greek God to get his players in shape . This is just a trolling thread and is irrelevant!

Fair play to him for showing support. Not many ex-trainers would do that!

Credit where it's due, Billy! :good

yeh I think he's got a mental / confidence issue too. I know Froch openly said he spoke to a sports psychologist in the build up to the Groves fight, and maybe one of this could help him more than any trainer could.

Amazing performance that night that made me sit up and take notice of Ricky and I was a fan ever since would love to see him recapture that jab and foot movement but sadly I don't think he can.
