Thousands of viewers heard a trainer tell his boxer to "cement this wee b******" live on TV.
Billy Nelson also urged Commonwealth superfeatherweight champ Ricky Burns to "concrete the ****".
His foul-mouthed rants forced a string of apologies from a commentator during the title fight, broadcast live on Sky Sports 1 on Friday night.
Burns was defending his belt against Belfast's Kevin O'Hara, 27, at Bellahouston Leisure Centre in Glasgow.
After one rant, the Sky commentator said: "Apologies for the language. Both camps are really trying to psyche up their boys."
During every break after that, the commentator spoke over Nelson. Burns, 26, of Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, won on points.
His manager Alex Morrison said: "Ricky wasn't fighting at his best so Billy was frustrated.
"He's got a big mouth but nothing was meant by it."
A Sky spokesman said: "We have mics in the corners but they forget and the industrial language comes in.
"We had to apologise three or four times."

Had to laugh when i read this earlier.

Better still, it was bigger than Ricky Burns fight article and Lee McAllister didnt even get one. :patsch

Quite ****ing sad really considering theres no football etc on right now.

See people, its not just the Telly Networks avoiding boxing, its the rags too.

How do ya fix it ?

You dish out some top class verbalage :happy:happy:happy

its disgraceful the amount of positive coverage on boxing is.

But when occasionally something goes wrong its back page news its stupid as hell aint it.

Recently there was an article of people complaing boxing fans bring a bad anme to The Albert Hall. There hasnt been a fight there for years and boxing crowds are probably one of the least rowdiest crowds ever.

Its utter shite this article. So Billy used a bit of colourful language to get his lad wound up.
Whats he expected to do ? He's in a sport where if you dont perform to the highest of your abilities your liable to be knocked out and possibly killed. Ricky needed to be given a kick up the arse and told to sharpen up which is exactly what his cornermen (Billy in particular) are there to do. Its after the 9pm watershed anyway whats the ****ing problem ?

just another negative pop at our sport by the mainstream press i guess the mail had run out of diana stories this week!

on a postive note i did hear a bit of praise from the sky commentators on ffn for billys advice to his fighters espically in that 3 rounder

they think all fighters are some thick **** of a kid who likes hurting people and beating people up and has no emotion.

They think fans are some sick ****s who like watching people get hurt for no reason

if this was the case all fight fans would be in Glasgow on a friday nigth watching some football fan neds jumping some old geezer walking his dog

boxing is a sport with a great record in terms of crowd controll etc... football is much worse but the players in that are ***gots so you cant say there barbaric

well when Gene Tunneys fighting hes as graceful as a ballerina

I notice that Adam Smith always apologizes but on Setanta Rawling laughs it off or doesn't say a thing. I knew one day they moan about it but it's a working class sport after water shed they shouldn't have to apologize it farcical.

By not having it on dilutes the passion from it.............the cornerwork is as much important viewing as the fight... you can get a great insight into how the next round will go and if the fighters are listening to what they are been told...........:good

It was funny as ****.........Burns is a top fighter.... a real improved battler... a bad night at the office last night.... you cannot work at 100%, 100% of the time........ a good learning curve for both fighter and corner last night...:good

    Exactly.

I didnt even check the link, the second I read which newspaper posted this garbage I knew instantly that it was some ill-informed football journo at work.

The englanders on this forum simply dont realise what boxing means to the mainstream in Scotland, this scottish article should prove that boxing is very much a minority sport in Scotland these days, & the only educated boxing opinion you will find is the posters like myself who post on ESB.

**** the Daily Record & Sunday Mail, havent bought the rags in years. If it aint football, those two sister rags are like reading a childrens book when you check out the sport section.

Hugh keevins is the worst culprit, his boxing articles are so ****in awful its funny in a macabre sort of way.
