Other than he was a tough hard hitting SOB and some film of his fights with Ketchell and Carpentier I don’t know enough about Papke. You would think the modern skills of Hearns, the speed, jab and the right hand being dropped onto him, you would favour Hearns. I think he would be in danger though if this went beyond 10 rounds, those guys trained for endurance.
Stopping Papke is no easy task. He was only knocked out once, despite having a lot of fights where he hadn't trained properly late in his career.
It would be interesting how Hearns would deal with Papke's inside game. He was much more than just an infighter, he was a skilled wrestler too.
He has got to get into that range first.I do not see him being successful there.Hearns was so tall and rangy.
