[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPvjHn7oGX4[/ame] This video is kinda funny though. Rivera definitely deserved an ass whooping, I just think the spitting was out of line and a precedent needs to be set.
I think this weekends stuff has been taken out of hand. The knee was unfortunate, he claims he mistimed it and was trying to catch Rivera on the way up, but got a little too eager. Only he really knows the truth and whether he meant it. I would say he wouldn't given the fact that could of been a loss for him there and then, but it was ridiculously early. I give Rivera all the credit in the world for getting up and continuing instead of taking the DQ win. Either way, illegal strikes happen often. It doesn't make them right but it he doesn't deserve to be singled out for it. He was punished accordingly, and as long as he doesn't make a habit out of it, that should be the end of it for me. The spitting incident, he also claims he spat at the floor as an insult to them, they claim it hit one of them. Once again, no idea who is correct, but the simple way to look at it is don't spit anywhere, it's filthy and nobody wants to see it. The other stuff have been done to death, and nobodies opinion of him is going to change any time soon. Personally I think he's a nice enough guy, who has problems keeping his emotions in check sometimes and says stuff he probably shouldn't do. Given the fact he's previously hated for things, stuff get taken out of context with him, but he sometimes does himself no favours at all, this weekend being an example.
I could really care less about the "illegal" knee. Rivera should have been protecting himself. The spitting was uncalled for. A fine seems to be in order.
Why should he be kicked out of the UFC? Just for spitting? are you mad? Obviously the corner men did something to **** him off. Spitting is actually funny. Good on him.
+1. Kicking him out of the UFC is too much but there needs to be a precedent of punishing that kind of outrageousness.
Ya, a fine would be reasonable. It is funny to a degree though. I remember fernando vargas (boxing) knocking his opponent down and spitting on him. I don't believe he was fined. The UFC probably didn't want to bring it to light and make an issue out of it, to elevate any bad rap the sport may have. It's one of those things they probably figure isn't worth the negative publicity.
No I'm not mad. I don't want to see anyone in the UFC get away with **** like that. These guys are supposed to be professional athletes. That is some **** that would happen in the WWE. Maybe I exaggerated by saying he should be kicked out, but he should and will be disciplined.
The most attractive human quality is the ability to laugh at oneself. Bisping was brutally booed when he fought Wanderleigh here last year, he has a pretty mixed reaction with most fans. He COULD have handled all the Rivera **** and laughed along with Rivera and made his own videos mocking himself even further. He could have chuckled and just dealt with it in the fight and then had a quiet word - Maybe ala De La Hoya Mayorga. But no. Bisping shoots himself in the foot again.
That just shows your obvious biased. Going up and abusing an opponent who you just stopped and was far from disrespectful before the fight is levels above spitting towards/at cornermen who abused you before/after the fight. As has been said many times on thsi fight, if you were bisping and your son and people you knew were watching videos of you being ripped the **** out of how would you react. The knee was clearly unintentional he was trying to time Rivera standing up.
What are you talking about? I'm not biased. I was referring to Lesnar's comments about beer and banging his wife he made after the fight, not getting up in Mirs face. I actually have no problem with fighters being heated with eachother even after the fight. It is the specific act of "spitting" at either the opponent or the opponent's corner that needs to be squashed before it starts. That is one of the most classless things you can do, end of story. If ever fight involved the winner spitting on the losers cornerman....how ****ing ridiculous is that?? atsch Come on man, get over it. Bisping acted like a twat, he needs to be punished and will be.
Yeah Bisping should have gone along with it. It was just in jest. I saw the funny side. Like a bisping fan's rebuttal video of Jorge's "power". This cracked me up. Notice the music that is playing lol. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj22iJsxyPQ[/ame]
My bad i thought you were talking about a much more classless act of squaring up to a clearly hurt man he has just stopped in a fight. I understand that you hate spitting and i agree it wasnt very sporting but if that turns out to be the worst thing that happens to that man this year hes very lucky indeed. Now dont me wrong i hate bisping, hes boring and i never bother watching his fights (Would much rather have Daley or Hardy as the face of British MMA, would get alot more fans from a highlight reel from either of them) but i think everyone is getting a bit worked up.
