Bivol & Beterbiev now move ahead of Canelo in the P4P rankings.

Golvokin, Ryder, Charlo, Munguia and Berlanga are each quality opponents. And again, Canelo pretty much dominated each of those guys. P4P is largely based on how you perform, quality of opponent is a factor but it doesn't supercede how you perform, and a single quality opponent, even if that opponent is better, should be weighted against how many more quality opponents your competition has fought in that span.

 

Of course quality of opponent matters, Canelo has been fighting lower level opponents compared to his peers.

Usyk has fully unified a second division and has just beaten the top rated HW.

Inoue has fully unified a second division and defended against Luis Nery who was a quality opponent. Doheny not so much.

Crawford again has fully unified a second division and has just come off a very close fight with arguably the next best LMW in the world.

Beterbiev and Bivol have just faced each other in a very close fight.

Canelo just isn't facing the same level of opposition.

 

You trolling? Canelo has not had a p4p performance since Plant , 3 years ago. Since then he has either lost or looked mediocre against cherry picks. He should not even be on the p4p list as he is currently not a p4p level fighter. Going the distance and not even putting a beating on C level opponents is not p4p.

 

Berlanga is a quality opponent? Ryder a journeyman? 40 year old MW GGG? Charlo a 154 pounder. Mungia a hype job? None of them are quality. Zero, and he couldn't even stop them.
