After seeing it again its clear Beterbiev's punches are not actually effective and only looked threatening at the time because of his aura and reputation. But Bivol is the only one landing actual clean solid punches and Beterbiev's punches just looked threatening at the time but we know now looking back never actually do anything This content is protected You guys were just scoring how scary Beterbiev's punches looked but rewatching we know his punches in actuality just look weak and ineffective
Beterbievs punches were so weak they were moving Bivols entire body two feet back this way and that, so weak that Bivol would go into full retreat mode for segments at a time... yes, such weak punching.
I get why people think Bivol won, I really do. He did outbox Artur for a good amount of the match and landed the more eye catching shots. He also though was very defensive and threw a lot less punches. And he didn't exactly land anything that seemed to have a significant effect on Beterbiev even when he landed. But I also think it's one of those fights that you could easily miss a lot of the shots Artur lands because they are harder to see clearly. When I rewatch the match I'm going to focus more on Artur's work and particularly the body shots he landed.
I literally rewatched the fight and scored it pen and paper. Here is how I scored it: 1.Bivol- Both didn't do much. Bivol landed more. 2.Bivol- Nice boxing. Competitive round but a Bivol round. 3.Bivol- Close round. Beterbiev landed some shots but as you mentioned, some were blocked. Bivol landed a couple of really clean combos. 4.Bivol- See round 3. 5.Beterbiev. Clear round. 6.Beterbiev. Clear round. 7.Beterbiev. It was a clear Bivol round until the last 55 seconds when he got hit with a counter that hurt him. Beterbiev stole the round. 8.Beterbiev- Bivol didn't do much in the round. Beterbiev was the one coming forward making the fight. Although Beterbiev wasn't landing a ton, he was doing more throughout the round than Bivol IMO. Bivol tried to steal it late with a couple of flurries but most of them were blocked. 9.10-9 Bivol- Bivol's best round IMO. Similar round to the 7th but he didn't get caught this time. Beautiful boxing. 10.Beterbiev-Clear round. Bivol wasn't active. Not a on clean from Beterbiev but Bivol isn't punching. 11.Beterbiev- See round 10. 12.Beterbiev- This round I initially scored for Bivol watching it live but on rewatch, Bivol didn't do enough. He had one nice combo but the majority of that round is what I saw the previous two. Total: 115-113 Beterbiev. I honestly think Bivol was able to do what he wanted to more than Beterbiev. Bivol just didn't close. In the championship rounds he simply wasn't doing enough. He wasn't active. That cost him the fight.
He never hurt Bivol. During the fight you expect that his shots will eventually hurt Bivol and you scored that. Thats understandable. But it never happened. You were just scoring your own imagination.
You... dont know what the hell youre talking about. I expected Bivol to win and I bet $1,000 on him to do so. Doesnt matter if he 'hurt' Bivol or not in terms of wobbling Bivol. His punches were visibly heavy and I assure you Bivol felt them to his bones. "Weak"... lmao.
You're literally using your imagination here. "I assure you" Sources cited: the Easter Bunny He never even buckled or staggered Bivol with anything he threw. He's supposed to be a big puncher but in this fight the reality is he simply wasn't and you people are still trying to score it like somehow he was giving out magical bonus points for something that wasn't actually happening
When the fight was in the balance and there to be won Bivol was shell shocked, he hardly threw anything in 10-12, no way he won 7 of the 1st 9 so how did he win lol?
What the actual ****. Please tell me where all of Bivol's standard traits went and then tell me the reason that they went away. Props to Beterbiev plain and simple
I'm just not giving as much credit for Beterbiev landing on gloves as you. He rarely ever lands a clean solid blow and we know in hindsight he never hurts Bivol at any point. During the fight it feels like Bivol is in more danger than he really was because of Beterbiev's fearsome reputation but you can't score reputation and rewatching the fight back that becomes clear. Bivol is actually very much in control and really wasnt in as much danger as it may have at first looked.
But arm punches are not scoring punches, so it's irrelevant if they did move his entire body two feet. The only relevant punches were what was landing clean to the head and the chest, and Bivol was clearly landing the cleaner shots.
Right. Its a lot of ineffective aggression that people are trying to claim as effective when by definition it was not.
Youre in the twilight zone man. The only imagination being used here is you imagining you know what other people are seeing when they score the fight. That you can actually watch that fight and think Arturs punches were weak, tells me you really dont know what you were watching though, no offense. Anybody can tell the punches were powerful and heavy by Divols body mechanics from the punches landing. Anybody can tell the punches were powerful from the way Bivol himself would react to them. Someone that knows what theyre watching can tell when a puncher isnt imposing his power on a high guard, and they can tell when he is. In fact this entire conversation is ridiculous lol. That it has to be explained to you that Artur was indeed punching Bivol very hard, and his punches werent in fact "weak", is just flat out comical. This content is protected Let me guess, when Bivol says Artur is "powerful, very powerful", hes just being polite. If Beterbiev punches so lightly maybe Bivol wont forfeit the fight next time by spending substantial and pivotal moments of the fight in all out retreat and maybe he can squeak out a win.
