If anything this will be used an excuse if they complete their trilogy and Beterbiev secures the stoppage which he was on the verge of doing in the 12th round of their rematch.

 

I wish there was a 13th round in that last fight. Bivol's eye was ripped to shreds and his gas tank empty.

My money would have been on Beterbiev stopping him

 

This op will accelerate his decline at his age.

Not many are able to recover back to their peak levels of performance after these type of ops.

He has made a fortune and probably should retire on a high.

We know he will continue until he feels the decline in the ring.

I don't believe he really had a back surgery. He just wants to age out Beterbiev.

After that hospital bed pose con, he probably got out of bed and told his manager: “This job’s done, partner. Beterbiev is now out of our way, millions are waiting for us,” and then gone to a bar to celebrate.

 

Beterbiev definitely brutalized and bullied Bivol in the first fight and won decisively.

In the rematch, he almost knocked him out in 12th round, if you sum the rounds won, Beterbiev won more rounds than Bivol in 2 fights.

I think I need to rewatch this? My memory was that Beterbiev had Bivol in trouble mid fight, then Bivol turned it up and outboxed him in a magnum opus performance.

 

Rounds 4 and 5 Beterbiev had Bivol hurt.

Round 6 was strong for Beterbiev too.

Rounds 7 - 11 Bivol stronger. (Round 10 could have been 50/50)

Round 12 Beterbiev opened a huge cut on Bivol's eye and finished stronger. If it went longer I think AB would have used that momentum to try and force a stoppage.

My takeaways after the fight;

Bivol was spent after the fight. He put everything into it.

Beterbiev should have pressed harder in the later rounds and not try and conserve energy. Bivol runs when he feels danger. Otherwise he is confident enough to stand and trade if not much is coming back.

I had it 7-5 Bivol and I am a big AB fan.

First fight I had 7-5 AB.

It's 1-1 apiece.

Rematch needed.
