Canelo will knock out Bivol, and it will be easier than the Plant fight.

Bivol is one dimensional, he just does straight combinations & in and outs. That's not boxing. He doesn't know how to attack to the body, he doesn't have head or body movement, he doesn't throw uppercuts or even proper hooks.

Bivol has no body defense, he will be an open target for Canelo.

    Very easy win for Canelo.

While I don't disagree entirely, Bivol will give Canelo a ton of problems. However, it would be nice if the people who put this video together actually knew what they were talking about. Or at the very least, if their memories aren't that sharp, checked Boxrec first.

Wait, Kovalev outboxed an inactive, shelled up Canelo for the majority of the fight and was STILL behind on the cards.
If Bivol can win on points he'd have to do better than that, which seems unlikely, since Canelo won't be as wary of the power and should be far less passive.
I highly doubt he can KO Canelo either as he isn't a big puncher. It's still possible, but seems very low percentage.
So I don't think Canelo has bitten off too much, even though I hope he has.

Good analysis but I would say importantly that Kovalev was a shot fighter by the time he fought Canelo. Psychologically, he had one foot in retirement and was grabbing one more big payday. I think Bivol is much more confident and skillful than Kovalev was at that time. Bivol has good power and I think he is quicker than Canelo. Canelo may be a bit more dangerous in the pocket and has very good timing. Bivol needs to be especially careful not to be timed. Get in, get out. Don't get into too many exchanges. I have listened to Bivol and I think he truly believes he can win the fight. Not many of Canelo's opponents have believed they can win. I give a slight edge to Canelo due to the judges but I think Bivol has a real good shot to win. By the way, I think they are equal size. Canelo, though shorter, is a bona-fide light heavyweight.

I think that Bivol needs to control space, which he does very well. If he does that along with using his reach, he can pull it off. Very doable.

Mayhaps he has, but on this edge greatness is discovered. Alvarez keeps getting bigger and better in every way I can detect; physically larger all around. Stronger. Not losing handspeed with the net result that handspeed improves moving up in weight. Doesn't gas like he used to. I mean dude just keeps getting more formidable. But until this fight, his opposition has not kept pace. There is not one fight since GGG 1 that anybody seriously thought he would lose.

Every ATG needs a foil or more than one. Needs to be sorely tested. Needs to overcome great adversity. You can't have an ATG based on the eye test alone. Bivol appears to provide actual risk of defeat. I hope Canelo almost chokes on what he's bitten off, but hunkers down, keeps chewing ands eventually consumes his meal. I want to see a fighter become great (I don't care which one). That only happens in a pitched battle.

Why haven't all the other boxers figured out that they can buy and pay for their own judges?

It goes the distance, so Alvarez has nothing to worry about.
If it was a neutral fight on neutral soil? Yeah, I'd favor Bivol.

If Bivol can control distance and get timing on Canelo's head movement patterns - whilst also staying out of range himself - that's his best shot.

    Combos and move.
    Distance
    Reset Canelo

If Canelo even looks vaguely effective going forward (even missing) the crowd will go beserk and the judges score it for him.

Bivol has to be millimeter perfect all night

@UniversalPart But we all know Bivol is not that skilled, don't we?

I'm watching a lot of videos on Bivol and I do see a lot of the same boxing patterns. Pethaps Canelo could genuinely exploit them or maybe Bivol employs a similar gameplan to Kovalev but sees the final bell and loses with some dignity (unless it's a complete robbery)

I am genuinely flip flopping in my own predictions.

I want Canelo to win purely because I want to see a firefight against Beterbiev. I also hope the 3rd GGG fight does not happen either.

Problem is: Bivol has never face an elite fighter in his entire professional life so its hard to judge if he can bring skills from mediocre opponents to the big stage. At least Saunders or Ugas just this weekend brought plenty, both got broken down.

@UniversalPart Bivol just does straight combinations, he doesn't know how to attack various parts of his opponent. That's why he has low knock out percentage.
