I get tired of challengers getting their way with stipulations like catch weights. It used to be if you were at a weight below and you were challenging the champion at the higher weight, you gained weight to fight the heavier champion. If I was Dmitry Bivol, I would tell Canelo Alvarez, I Will Give You A Rematch, But Under My Own Terms, You Are The Challenger, Take It Or Leave It. As another talented poster posted, everyone including myself want to see Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed World Light Heavyweight Title. To make a fight at catchweight is like Bivol wanting Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury drop down to Light Heavyweight, not going to happen.

Of course he shouldn't move down. Defend at 175 and see if Canelo wants more of that.
He shouldn't drain himself to please Canelo, making the fight closer so the judges can beat him.

I remember that. Derevyanchenko then went on to get robbed by that fighter too. Sad story.

Canelo isn't for 175. Hopefully Canelo stays put at 160-168... but who knows, the man has balls of steel.

Good for Bivol, he’s standing his ground and going to make Clen have to abide by his demands or move on.

Rematch clause in contract surely should be null and void, as Bivol contractually was due to be paid his purse and that has been reneged upon, so the promoter has broken the contract first.

    How?
    Canelo was schooled.
I never saw the logic of a rematch at 168lb. The reason? Why?
Canelo is trying to get the belts at 175lb so why would he fight at 168lb when only Canelo''s undisputed would be up for grabs.
Canelo would still need to fight Bivol at 175 to get that belt. As the fight wasn't close the first time I don''t think Ginger can negate the gap in speed. movement and skills.
I can also see the reason for Bivol NOT rematching at 175lb. Yes he get's a good payday but as I asserted in various threads regarding Usyk v Joshua rematch. that a robbery is more likely on the second time round as there would be no rematch clause. meaning there's no way back after the robbery to get the opportunity to get it back. I think for myself I would rather see Bivol against Beterbiev.
If it was close then a rematch is fair enough but I wouldn't trust the judges taking into account the last fight was nearly a shut out to 90% sane people and they scored it close.

I like Alvarez as a fighter & I still have him a P4P on my list BUT if he fights Bivol at 168, I will drop him on my list and lose ALL respect for him.

If he beats Bivol at 168, I'll give him no credit...either fight Bivol at 175 or move on.

As far as Bivol, he's not getting Beterbiev/Smith winner next so who's the next best option? Fighting Alvarez at 175 is the next lucrative option. If he beats him again even more decisively, then he will really be a SUPERSTAR but if they come at him with 168, decline the offer & go fight Zurdo until Beterbiev/Smith winner becomes available.

This is not rocket science, Bivol is not in control anyway...his team, DAZN, World of Boxing, Main Events & Matchroom is. he should just sit back & let other's do the thinking for him

    His job is to fight.

He didn't get his money yet. After he gets his money he may think about it.

Hes taking rematch regardless of what he says, unless he's an idiot. This is potentially his last chance at the money a Canelo fight will bring him. He was barely making 500k for his defenses as a champion ffs. If he does go after Beterbiev, (which it's about f'n time) he can lose and his financial opportunities will not be nearly the same afterwards. So as much crap as I give him and Beterbiev for running away from each other, if I were in his shoes I take the Canelo rematch then Beterbiev.
