Bivol is a belt holder. Gvozdyk was the lineal champion.

He should be beating Canelo, absolutely. Big size difference. Though Canelo has the PEDs and judges. So in a way it was still impressive given the circumstances and that Bivol is not the biggest LHW and doesn't punch that big.
It's really only because of the corruption that it's impressive though.

A belt holder who has a much better resume and legacy than Gvozdyk?

Beterbiev vs this belt holder Bivol is widely considered to be one of the best match ups that can be made in the sport right now, one of the top two match ups, in fact. Fans have been clamouring for this fight for years. Hence why it was one of the first fights His Excellency said needed to happen. He only considers Usyk vs Belly above it and from a personal perspective, speaking as a fan, he said this is the fight he wants to see more than any other. There was no such demand for Beterbiev vs Gvozdyk. Many fans wanted to see it but the demand was not even comparable to what it is for Beterbiev vs Bivol.

And should he emerge victorious it will be Beterbiev's career defining and best win and the entire boxing world will consider it so

I don't think so Canelo got a boxing lesson & was embarrassed that's why he's ducked a rematch

    I second this.

People are trying to diminish the win acting as if he beat some no mark that stepped up from 147 to 175, like no. The dude cleared out the 168 division and knocked out Kovalev.

The guy's barely lost a round in his pro career.

It was a great performance and a great win. End of.

Them scorecards show you what Bivol was up against.
This was an excellent fight and B had to win 10 rounds just to get a decision

Another Canelo excuse lol That " hand injury" happened two fights previously How come he never claimed it was injured before? Or how come he's never got it fixed ? We all know the judges are Canelo's "friends" but even THEY couldn't stretch the decision far enough to give him a draw lol Face it Canelo got exposed AGAIN!!!!1

Guys we all know Shadow111 is Canelo's prime cheerleader he adores him cannot see through his smoke & mirrors lol. He is the only person, besides the obviously biased judges, that made Bivol/Canelo even remotely close. Canelo got a boxing lesson & was embarrassed

I dont think its that great of a win either.

Styles make fights. Buvol would always be a nasty style for Canelo but at 168 or below he would have slowed him down and then broken him down.

At 175, different story. I dont think Canelo is a great 175er, hes been relying a bit much on pressure and attrition recently and he just cant make it work for him against the bigger guys.

People keep harping about the PEDs but Canelos body has never really looked the same after the first fail between GGG1 and 2. If he was on a different playing field surely he would have just kept getting bigger and leaner at a higher weight like a Holyfield, Mosley, Pacquiao, Marquez, Mayweather etc. But he looked soft and flabby at 175 both times.

He also only beat a drained kovalev who went life and death with eleider alvarez and Anthony Yarde arpund the same time and was doing very well just "point boxing" him until his legs slowed and his drained punch resistance gave out.

Beterbiev beating Gvozdyk is a better win for me. Lineal Champ, proven at 175.

Bivols greatest win according to his own wife was the knockout of herself with his children watching. But that one doesnt show up anywhere on his record.
