Bivol said he’s the A-side now. What an OG.

Why did Bivol who has made seven defences of his world title and has fought the better competition out of all of them get paid the least? Why did Plant earn so much when he has fought janitors and dog trainers?

'Canelo Alvarez is expected to earn a staggering $53million for his title clash with Dmitry Bivol tonight while his rival will earn a career-high payday of around $5m.

The 31-year-old will enjoy another bumper payday with a guaranteed $15m payday which is expected to rise to $53m in line with pay-per-view revenue and gate takings.

Bivol will earn around $2m guaranteed which could later increase to $5m after revenue from the fight is calculated. This will be a career-high payday for the Russian with his highest previous purses coming at $500,000 against Craig Richards and Umar Salamov in his last two outings.''

This is a big money for fight both boxers. Canelo is due to earn a guaranteed $40 million while also claiming 60% of PPV proceeds, per multiple reports. Plant is slated to earn a guaranteed $10 million plus 40% of PPV proceeds.

BJS 2.0 reputedly walked away with $8 mill

'Callum Smith make guaranteed purse for this fight upto $4 million and it will increase maximum to $7.5 million based on pay-per-view share

Agreed. I’m shocked that some people are shocked about how the fight went. When he fought Kovalev it seemed clear to me (and a few others) that fighting an elite 175lbs fighter would not end well for Canelo.

However, you have to respect it. He’s the one fighter in boxing that can truly take easy fights and make money, yet he’s pushing the boundaries, and taking serious risks.

I see Canelo as being primed at 160, that’s why his 168 journey to become undisputed was so impressive. It’s also why 175 was a no no.

Because Plant is a fluent, English speaking American. And he's a G, ya know??? Plant is down with the gangsta and urban bull**** that's real popular these days.

Bivol is a Russian gentleman and a scholar.

Yeah, sorry to disappoint. You’ll have to wait a little longer I suspect before you get to see Canelo take a serious beating. Likely through age, like many other top fighters that have come before him.

Guys were actually saying Canelo was the bigger man, even while he was being visibly dwarfed by Bivol in the ring. The extent to which people will see what they want to see is quite extraordinary.

It's pretty clear that Canelo is no light heavyweight. I can't criticize him if he wants to try to correct the defeat to Bivol, but I don't think it damages his image to let it go and chalk the loss up to being out of his optimum weight range. He's still got some prime rivals at super middleweight, like Benavidez and the prospect of Jermall moving up.

Bivol was obviously bigger. You can add muscle to your frame, but you can't get "bigger". Canelo looked hulked up whereas Bivol looked lean at LHW.

Bivol could have stayed the whole match with his guard up and doing nothing else and canelo wouldnt have damaged him seriously. When it happens to a champion it means he doesnt belong in that weight. But I have nothing to say but thank you to canelo. I wondered if he could dominate 175, and now we all know the answer, and the answer is no. Could gg dominate SMW? we will all die and we will never know. Then people wonder why some fighters earn millions and other figthers earn peanuts.

btw, we all know canelo can dominate SMW. That's another thing I wondered, and now I know too.

TBH I don't see a rematch happening. When Canelo watches the tape he will conclude he doesn't have the tools to beat Bivol, and will go back to 168

Bivol wants more money for the rematch. That's what he is talking about. He doesn't care about ring size, gloves, venue etc. He says they must pay him good this time if they want the rematch.
