This. Gvozdyk most likely doesn't have Gassiev's raw strength, but is more skilled and better at connecting clean with his power shots.
Kov sends this dude back home with his tail tucked up his back end. Kov's a bad man! Line them up and Kov will beat them down. Bivol's lack of head movement will be his demise against Kov's laser guided sledge hammer jab.
All these polarizing opinions make me laugh, nobody knows for certain and m ost picks are based on assumption and have no bearing on reality. I for one will wait until after August 4th where we all will have a better idea. For what it's worth; i have a hunch Bivol's career trajectory and development may prove to mcuh if these guys ever intersect paths but that is fnothing more than a hunch at this point. I do not know everything like the rest of you experts.
Gvozdyk has a serious problem – gas tank. He himself has said that “hitting too hard was/is my reoccurring mistake”. Just look at him after the Yunieski Gonzalez fight – he could hardly talk because he was so out of breath. Regarding Bivol vs. Kovalev, we don’t necessarily know how good current Kovalev is. He is the same killer at heart, but those two Ward fights change him as well. They also made Kovalev’s stamina issues quite obvious. His new trainer is a dark horse as well, he’s trying to change Sergey, but will those changes be for good or bad? He makes Kovalev “dance” in the ring more, and that might negatively affect his punching power. Bivol is getting better with each fight and he’s young. All in all Bivol and Kovalev on the same card again is not a coincidence – that fight should happen in the future.
I have my feel good fights I like to watch too! Hopkins going out of the ring for a final goodbye fight makes me smile I became a Smith fan after that! Lol Also The video of Rigobdeaux with that pathetic “I can’t do this” look on his face when he was saying “No Mas.” makes me feel good. Walters too. Something about seeing Loma make those “Killas” tap the **** out
Kovalev was down against Caparello and struggled against Chilemba. He wasn't even able to knock out an old Hopkins, who was destroyed by Smith. Despite beating Ward in the first fight, he fought kind of cautious against a smaller, featherfisted fighter. He can't take any pressure at all. Bivol would be just too much, it would be a similar fight like Kownacki vs. Szpilka. The better fighter would just get destroyed because he can't handle pressure.
Kovalevs lack of a real left hook would hurt him against Bivol. Bivol looks to have a nice ring IQ and Kovalev basically throws just strait punches. In his workout vids he throws hooks but he seems to lack the confidence to let them go in a fight IMO
