So why does bivol win the round if he is covering up, on his bike and landing a last second flurry on the gloves? In that case the agressor should get it if its not 1 guy landing more cleaner punches and you dont want to score it 10-10.
The 4 pillars of scoring: Effective Aggressiveness Clean and Effective Punching Ring Generalship Defense It´s not about: "Hurr, durr he ran! Can´t score for him." Honestly, it comes down to defense and who lands the cleaner, more impactful punches. If in a round Bivol landed the cleaner punches and more of them then he likely won the round because of it. It´s fairly simple.
I had it 7-5 Beterbiev with Bivol having his moments but he lost those last three rounds convincingly which allowed Beterbiev right back in and it cost him the fight. Hopefully we see a rematch .
I think that Bivol blocked many punches with his gloves, was not a close fight, 8-4 Bivol and 4-8 Beterbiev is not a close fight. Close fight is a draw or 7-5 each.
Yeah but in several rounds that wasnt the case. There was no real difference in more cleaner impactful punches. If you dont want 10-10 then who do you score it for? Its the same ol hagler vs srl discussion. For me its the boxer pushing the action vs the guy on his bike then. Either that or 10-10. If it goes to the fighter on his bike then he better clearly outland or land better punches. Which Bivol did in a few rounds as well. Hence why it was close.
1. Bivol 2. Bivol 3. Beterbiev 4. Bivol 5. Beterbiev 6. Beterbiev 7. Bivol 8. Bivol 9. Bivol 10. Beterbiev 11. Beterbiev 12. Beterbiev 114-114 Draw I had Bivol clearly infront after 9 rounds i felt he was boxing well and landing the more accurate shots, but then he kind of faded down the stretch. And Beterbiev won the late rounds based on effective aggression.
So you simply give the round to a fighter because you prefer aggression? This means you are judging based on your own preferences rather than the actual criteria. There is nothing in the rules about penalizing a boxer for how they fight. And there is nothing wrong with giving a 10-10 round.
I thought judges in general avoid 10-10 rounds? But for example, round 8. I honestly dont see why people give that one to Bivol. Beterbief was pushing him around all round. They had one big exchange that sort of equally landed and Bivol ended it off with a few second srl type flurry. Its wrong to give that to Bivol than imo yet most people did. It feels like some purist way of thinking the guy on his bike deserves it cause he avoided getting caught. You cant steak it with a small flurry either. Like that doesnt erase the 2:50 of the other guys work then. I would have been fine with a bivol md either by the way.
Again, clean and effective punches. There is nothing in the rules about penalizing a fighter for not engaging/running. If you think Beterbiev had the better defense(Bivol´s blocked flurries) and landed the cleaner and more effective punches then give him the round. You don´t have to use your own made up rules to judge the fight. If you think one guy landed the better punches then give him the round.
Well sometimes there isnt much in it. There were several very close rounds in this fights where it was hard to clearly point out a clear winner of the round.
