If it’s a slipped disc that could jeopardise his longevity in the sport.

He landed some beautiful jabs in that fight.

Amateur pedigree seem to have abandoned and tried to become some mini haye groves type of fighter and I ain't seen the fight but injury involved
Longevity and the least punishment is key why to in to go many were are make it a war if you don't have to / need to
Use your strengths if they ain't working adapt don t make hard work make hard work look easy

Even once its healed, something like that could affect his mentality in future fights. Always be at the back of his mind that it could happen again. Feel for the lad.

Absolutely devastated there for him. Thought he was going on to cement his position as one of Britain’s p4p best. Started much better than I had anticipated, throwing some lovely jabs and 1,2’s. It’s a shame to lose your belt like that.

People never have the same potential if it is indeed disc problems.

Usually the start of a long road to lifetime back problems requiring either surgery, regular physio and careful mgt on a daily basis.

Will not be career ending injury yet but a serious blow to any professional sporting competitor.

Burnett looked absolutely World class until the injury...Donaire couldnt cope and was looking at a 1 sided beating imo....So weird that a missed punch could cause a TKO

I have disc problems and the last thing you need is a punch in the face....But it looked as if it was his hip??

Hopefully it is something less serious than disc problems

Burnett now saying it WAS his back. Scans tomorrow should tell us more. If it's spinal then his career is in jeopardy, it's as simple as that. Fingers crossed ... He

Apparently cleared to go home to belfast for further scans.

Did he just pull a muscle?

If you watch the fight back, Burnett says something to Adam Booth in the corner and my immediate thought was he was injured, I had it in the past when boxing when it feels like an electric shock and I've managed to get through a couple of rounds so I imagine he thought he could get through it if he was careful but when Ryan missed that right hand it must have slipped the disc altogether.

Not a good injury for a boxer but even worse for an Arm Booth trained fighter that uses lateral movement from the waist as a big part of their style. Hope he gets through it ok and can get back to the top level

I hope so. . But it could be a disc, or the sciatic nerve. . .which would threaten his career, even end it altogether... .
