Unless I'm mistaken, Dirrell vs Ward is the last fight for both men in the tournament. Like I said, Dirrell is as big a risk as Taylor is with NONE of the reward.

Back then he had the chin to survive those sort of scenarios. it didn't hurt that he was taking on guys who weren't exactly powerful. Unless you're going to tell me Kassim Ouma, Cory Stinks and Winky Wright are big bombers.

But he didn't. Not only did he not beat Froch, he got knocked out against him because he didn't have the punch resistance or the stamina to go a solid 12.

Used to be. Now he's just a faded vulnerable name for some young fighter to feed off of. I'd rather not see him like that.

So if I read this properly...he wasn't good at all?

I mean your argument is "he got backed up by a journeyman in Ouma, he got a gift against Spinks, he got lucky against Hops and Wright and he did well against Pavlik and still lost."

What Taylor has cannot be fixed...so there's no point in playing the "What If?" Game with him. His last four losses have the same distinct pattern. Starts off well, loses focus, gasses out, gets knocked out. He might've avoided that last bit against Ward...but he's not beating him. He might've outboxed him early but you can count on this version of Taylor fading down the stretch and getting outpointed against a guy like Ward.

He's a former olympian with superb boxing skills and an overall well rounded game. He doesn't need much protecting.

 

It is in America at least! It was big news over there the days after the fight. But it never got repeated here in USA. But with all that has happened it has to make you wonder.

Taylor was contracted to fight in the Super-six and was contracted to earn so much money...if you are contracted then you are due the monies said in the contract. Unless you default. Taylor didnt default, so yes he was paid, actaully he was bougth out of the contract.

It has nothing to do with Ward. As one MORON Pavlik fan is making it appear.

 

I don't think so even though that could be possible. Taylor has too much pride to back down. He needs to retire. I don't want him to talk like Meldrick Taylor.
