Thread on the Boxing Forum " Danny Green exposes hype job BJ Flores " 90 + posts and not a kind word to say about Bennie. US amateur boxing must have been in a sorry state in 2001 / 2002 when this bloke was National heavyweight champion.
Who was the last top quality US heavyweight & when do you think he was an amateur. Probably have to go back to at least the mid 90's for an amateur US heavyweight of top quality.:-(
Point taken about US amateurs. They've been in decline for more than a decade. If Danny wants any sort of lasting legacy a rematch with Flores is meaningless. Sign to fight Huck, Cunningham , Lebedev, Wlodarczyk or Afolabi and I'll be a believer. Otherwise he's just singing from the same song book as Mundine and milking a very gullible boxing public.
Again why does Green need to fight the 4 best guys in the division right away? If I was looking after Green I would go Shane Cameron first....give him a guy who will go the distance and who is a full soze CW with some skill.....then see who wins out of Huck and Lebdev....if its Lebdev then I would fight Rob Norton 32 (19) - 4 while calling out Lebdev....if it's Huck.....then I would fight Brian Minto 35 (22) - 4 while calling out Huck.
Bring on the rematch. Both guys have survived the 12 rounds, stripping rust and can more than likely put on a more solid contest next time.
Just my way of saying I don't think Green will ever fight one of the Top Five. He's way too comfortable doing it his way. Hope he proves me wrong.
Why is that duke? Huck V Lebdev is on in a few weeks time......Cameron whom has earned a shot should be next....while I'm sure you would just throw your fighter into a fight against the winner managers thinks a little more than that. Im sure you had at least looked at boxrec to see if these guys are leftys or rightys so Im sure you would match Green with a warm up south paw before Lebdev ?
:think I may have misread your intentions (and if so ) but I took it as advice to keep milking the Australian public Mundine style. I.e. Calling out fighters with no intention of fighting them, while getting the public to shell out for mismatches.
When I hear the term warm up I cringe and think SHAM!! What's the problem with bringing in southpaws for long sparring sessions. There would be way more value and credibility attached to that then arranging a "warm up" bout. 6 rounds with a hand picked southpaw with ****all heart getting paid to take a heating for ****all would be your "managers" way of thinking?
Boxon, you are now arguing with a very successful manager. The same idiot, this year, was trying to convince me that Manny Siaca is a southpaw.
I got an idea, may be a little simple for your convaluted managers mind. Pick a decent fighter, make a decent offer, get the deal signed and then promote it as a credible fight.....oh yeah and call out Brock Lesnar once all is a done deal. EDIT: Green is 37.....the clock is ticking, less fights, Qaulity opponents more cash....again simple logic.
Are you saying fighters 35-4 have no cred? These guys are just short of world class and a great test for green to set him up for the title shot
It's easy to see how you guys would have green go....fight huck or USS or leave the division....you have no ****ing idea
