They were commenting on how his face was getting marked up. In which case Lederman stepped in and mentioned that his cornermen weren't using the right product on his face.

He was barely geting hit, aside from a few jabs Mercer caught him with, it was practically a shut out, if his face was marked up by punches, wouldnt the same color/bruises, be on his face after the fight as well? I never seen a bruise disapear in 15 minutes, just admit you were mistaken and that's just move on.

 You are unreal. I was not mistaken at all... you just don't know what you are talking about. Wlad's face WAS marked up after the fight.

Yet, you said in a few posts down that Wlads face isnt blue and he's not tired at all in the round he stops Mercer. So why was Wlads face turning blue in the 3rd or 4th round, but yet magically looked fine or as you say only marked up by the end of the fight?

What the hell are you talking about? Wlad's face never looked blue to begin with. His eyes were bruised, and marked up. I can't believe you just keep on lying.

They were talking about how his face was being marked up.... see after the fight?

Nice picture, he really dont look all that bad, but then again Mercer landed barely any right hands the whole fight, for a white guy Wlads face looks fine IMO.

I wouldn't say he made him look bad, it was pretty competitive. It reminded me of Spinks/Mayorga. Flores just didn't impress me at all.

Mercer landed a few solid jabs in that fight but that was it. The rest of the time he was getting pounded and showing how good his chin was.

Anyway, I was really impressed with B.J. Flores. Not only is he articulate and well-spoken, he seems like a genuinely nice guy who's more willing to show respect to fellow fighters than to insult them. Don't know about everyone else but that's a breath of fresh air to me. We always need villains for entertainment (and we get them) but we also need more guys like Flores in boxing. He could go right into commentating as far as I'm concerned.

Re-watched FNF. BJ seems like a stand up guy.

Only seen two of BJ's fights - against Darnell Wilson and Chris Thomas.

Need to see him fight more before I can make a determination if he's a title holder or not.

IMO he can be a titleholder and I'll tell u why. He took a lot of criticism for the Wilson fight and he acknowledged the reasoning behind it. However, he did something that kept him out of trouble. He stuck to the gameplan and that's something that alot of fighters abandoned in attempts to win over fans or the crowd on a particular night. Flores listened to his trainer and tuned out the booing crowd. What did it get him? A higher ranking and a step closer to a title shot. Listening to Flores speak, I hear an intelligent fighter who knows that there are certain guys you just can't afford to get careless against. Wilson is one of those guys. Another reason why I think Flores can be a champion is because he appears to have a solid chin. Keep in mind that a 200 lb. man can hit hard. You need a chin at cruiser and heavy.

Mercer actually landed a very good, flush, counter right hand at the begining of the 6th round.

Honestly, I can't remember it. I'll take your word for it though. I can't remember the last time I've seen anyone land a noteworthy punch on Wladimir. Maybe the Peter fight.

You're right. I was posting on the front page for the past few months and I was reading alot of criticism about Wladimir based on his last fight. I don't understand why Wlad was so gunshy against Ibragimov cuz it seemed to me that he could have taken him out at any point. He even knocked him down and didn't get credit for it. I understand the criticism and chalk it up to the Tyson factor (we want excitement) but you just cannot overlook the fact that it would take an extraordinary set of circumstances for Wladimir to actually lose again. You can't escape his jab (which is the equivalent to a power punch), he cuts off the ring like no one else, he hooks off the jab and his right hand is an eraser. Throw in the fact that he fights tall and is so quick. If you throw a left hook he blocks it with his right. Get in close and he'll tie you up. I was upset with Wladimir cuz he wasn't willing to open up more but at the same time I gotta give him a pass cuz what he does is boxing artistry.

    Great post.

I agree that his last fight was a bit frustrating. However, I wasn't frustrated with Wlad. He simply wasn't going to sell out and allow Ibragimov to have his way. Wlad was easilly winning the fight, and it was Iggy's job to open up and try to turn the tables. Iggy was fighting so defensively, was leaning back and away, and moving.... Wlad would have literally had to drape himself on top of Iggy in order to get solid right hands off on a regular basis. That is Iggy's game, and he does that a lot against taller fighters. When they decide to just go for broke on him and open up that is when he decides to strike. Wlad was just too smart to let that happen. It was easy for him to completely dominate from the outside, so it was Sultan's job to try and take the fight to Wlad, and put forth his own concerted effort to win the fight. Had he done that, we would seen Wlad knock him out, and everyone would have been happy. (well not everyone) Look what happened at the end of the 11th round when Sultan finally decides to let his hands got for a few seconds.... he starts getting battered immediately.
