Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer : "I found out this morning -- I talked with another inspector of mine -- he said that apparently B.J. Penn had complained to the inspector in his corner after either the first or second round that he though maybe Georges was a little slippery. I found that out this morning. At the same time he was complaining we were actually handling the situation in Georges' corner. It's just unfortunate WOW!! as for BJ according to JD First off, everyone should know BJ is doing just fine. "A few bumps and bruises, but nothing major" said JD Penn. More then the physical, "Its his heart and spirit that are hurt." he told me. "We are not trying to make excuses, GSP was the better fighter that night, we just wish his cornerman didn't cheat by rubbing vaseline on his back." "Everyone is putting a lot of time and money in too making this sport legit, for someone to do this only hurts the credibility of the sport."
Hes right it does hurt the sport when all anyone wants to talk about is GSP greasing up which trust me its going to help take away some of the effectivness of a mans rubber guard just like sweat would then combine that will vasoline and we got a nice little defensive weapon there.
It's funny this has come up - at the start of the fight GSP had a bottle of water and poured some of it over his head and down his body. I thought for a minute that was unfair as it would make him slippier, but i dismissed the thought as it wasnt a lot of water. But now this. Who knows what was rubbed on before the fight too. It's unfortunate. He would likely have won the fight anyway, but **** like this throws uncertainty into things.
Jimmie theres a reason this aint going away. Theres smoke here, GSPs fans needs to be objective about this, this is the commissioner talking. BJs corner werent the ones hyperventilating trying to rub GSPs back with a towel. Now Mayhem, Hughes, Serra are talking about the same ****. In fairness, even Bj and Mayhem said that the outcome probably wouldnt have changed and GSP might not even knwo this thing. But if true and it seems like it, then its cheating
Yeah I agree to me its cheating anyone who likes to use a high guard or rubber guard i going to be at severe disadvantage when a guy has a back with vasoline on it and we all seen the fight BJs legs did slip down numerous times. I just assumed GSPs posture was strong which im sure it was and im sure he wins anyway he was a much better fighter just it dont matter just lie guys who roid up and lose cheating is cheating and something should be one about it.
Seriously, ppl gota stfu about this. Look at the video he barely does anything to his shoulders. He wiped his hands on GSPs eye then cheeks than jaw, after all that he touches the shoulders. Give me a break, all that did is wipe the sweat off to give BJ Penn more friction. Rubbing the back in circular motion like that? *laf*, Yea, how in the world would that prevent high guard? If people actually took time to analyze the situation there wouldn't be all this bs. Serra and Hughes talking about the same thing? lol, were the knees too slippery for serra when he got kneed in the kidneys? Hughes? Sorry but that was just utter domination, I don't care if GSP was covered in dry rubber it wouldn't have made a difference.
You are not looking objectively at this..You fail to separate BJs loss with the vaseline incident. No one is saying that BJ would have won and it should be overturned. BJ got a beatdown. BJ didnt point this thing out. It was NSAC, theyre the ones who checked this, its their President who are making all the comments. Its their official who came to the octagon livid, not a fan or BJs cornermen. Youre missing the point. GSP is GOD, the greatest that will ever be he'd take Fedor down and GNP him for all anyone cares. Thats not the point, the point is cheating. Because whether the cheating had any effect on the result is irrelevant, its cheating. In MMA cheating is not good man. Losing thats ok, fighters get beaten all the time. No ones defending Penn as "damn if he hadnt greased up he would have won". Who the **** is saying that. GSP is a Demigod, we know!! And Penn was beaten to a pulp, we know!!! What do you think the fighters think about this when Chuck and Mir was pointing it out? They were sour grapes because BJs getting pummeled? The NSCA could care less about the outcome of this fight.
Maybe if BJ actually ****ing trainned for this fight he may have cancelled out the grease factor and won. BJ harms the sport himself when he Knocks TFO opponents and licks blood off them. When he talks trash and can't back it up because he was too busy doing **** all instead of trainning his ass off for the biggest fight of his life.
No doubt, the guy needs to reflect. But the difference here is BJ puts himself at a disadvantage, not the other way around, who the **** licks blood?? ****in thing will get you sick, probably why hes always ****ing tired.
No, it is you who fail to separate cheating from rubbing someones back. At first I thought GSP was indeed cheating until I actually SAW what happened. Whatever it was that his trainers were doing in between rounds is anything but cheating. The fact that all the fighters are coming out and saying that he was greasy every single fight is simply funny. Unless he was greased before he even came out to the cage(at which point commission failed) there's no case for this to be cheating. Yea, cheating is bad in MMA. That's probably why GSP's corner didn't cheat. Chuck and Mir said he was greasing? Source? That sentence didnt make much sense. Would there be a discussion if BJ Penn beat the **** out of GSP? HELL NO. It would've pass unnoticed and that incident buried. So BJ Penn losing has everything to do with it. People have to stop acting like it doesn't. It was the catalyst if you will. Here's what cheating is for hardheaded: If the trainer had vas on his wrist, took a swipe of it and spread it around his fingers then rubbed top of GSPs shoulders in the same manner. Then took another swipe of vas, spread it around his fingers and started rubbing his back. THAT would've been cheating. Someone mentioned pouring water over ones head? Whats the difference between that and a wet sponge which is used all the time.
Ok I see the NSCA was out to get GSP. Well you could have just said that it was a mistake on their part. They were there, we are not. We saw clips they saw a couple of rounds like this, compelled them to enter the octagon. Anyway, this President of them is ****in irresponsible and should step down, creating drama. Hey Penn came from money so I wouldnt be surprised if they slipped something the moment they saw him gassed in between rounds
gsp did not need vaseline to beat bj penn. sadly, the fact that his corner did run vaseline on his back dimishes the victory a bit IMO, i think gsp is the biggest victim here. he could have defeated bj penn without all this **** but now people are starting to think twice and i think it damages gsp's reputation a bit
NSCA is out to get GSP? Did you come up with that yourself? Actually, some fans started yelling it out. That's why they reacted. If they saw something like I've described commission would've been in there right away wiping GSP down and wouldn't have let that trainer guy in for the rest of the match. They prolly just got intimidated by some reach **** in the front seat who was losing load of money and started yelling at them. Since there WAS "something" strange about the trainer grabbing his shoulders they reacted.
