    Gomi then went on to lose to a gatekeeper in the UFC. Which greatly diminished Nick's victory over him.

    And you are out of your mind if you think Diaz outboxing Noons is proof that he has some of the best hands in MMA :patsch

    There is a lot to admire about Diaz , there really is , and i have jumped on his bandwagon many many times , there are not enough fighters like Nick Diaz in MMA .

    But thinking about it logically , this post pretty much seals it for me , agree'd 100%

    Top sentence - how can it ? :huh... every fight is different.

    Next sentence - newsflash, having the best hands in MMA doesnt exactly qualify you as anything elite as far as boxers go, bottom line is Noons supposedly had a pair of the best hands in MMA & Diaz was advised not to box with him, to take him to the ground, he boxed with Noons & beat him so give credit were it is due.

    Say what you want about competition but its clear to me that Diaz is an improved fighter now & Sanchez has slipped a fair bit... their 1st fight was very close as it was with Diego`s continuous takedowns being the only difference.
    Diaz would beat the **** out of Sanchez nowadays.... & keeping with the point of the thread... he beats Penn as well.

    I never discredited Diaz. I think he's a good fighter. I just don't overrated him. I'm also not delusional when it comes to his striking skills.

    Sanchez didn't "slip", he stepped up his competition. A thing Diaz hasn't done. Sanchez has lost to Fitch, penn and Kos (and Hathaway). Diaz lost to SANCHEZ, Riggs, Sherk and others. I'm not even sure why I"m hypothetically debating this with you. Diaz IS NOT on Penn's level, he's not on GSP's level, Fitch's level, etc. He has never beat a world class fighter.

    How would he beat Penn?

    What do you think his strategy would be?

    Also, do you think he is a better striker than Florian?

    Better striker than Florian ?... with hands, yes, Florian`s Muay Thai is better tho.

    How would he beat Penn & what would his strategy be ?... only Nick could answer that for sure but my view is that he keeps Penn on the end of his jab, using his reach & counters the **** out of him everytime BJ tries to close the distance, all the while pushing forward making Penn fight every minute of every round, making him exchange leather & after an even first 3 rounds you`ll start to see the better conditioning of Diaz come into play.

    In the championship rounds, BJ will be looking for TD`s which he may or may not get & he`ll spend energy doing so but he wont do any significant damage if he does get the TD & it wont take Diaz too long before he`s back on the feet pushing forward & starting to dominate Penn on the feet... Penn will finish on his feet but he`ll be glad to hear the bell & both men will know who the winner was before the decision comes.

    I really hope this fight happens, preferably 5 rounds... 3 rounds could go either way.

    I just don't see it going that way dude, but I'm also no where near perfect in predicting how fights will play out. :good

    EXACTLY the way i see it. the problem for penn is his takedowns are virtually non existent but besides that their jiu jitsu is virtually equal in mma terms. the more i think about it the less likely a penn win seems.
    if penns overated boxing fails him i dont see HOW he wins this.

    so if these 2 had boxing match bj would win? i dont know where people get bj has good boxing.dont know boxing? no only been training and fighting 4 15 years

    :lol: funny being that he is one of the only people I remember who actually took GSP down when he tried. He took Kenflo down AT EASE as soon as he wanted too. Edgar he had trouble because he couldn't close the distance. If he wants Diaz on the ground, he'll put him there.
