    In the UFC Matt Hughes.

    Carlos Newton x2
    Sakurai
    Sean Sherk
    Trigg x2
    1-1 with BJ Penn
    1-2 with GSP
    Chris Lytle
    Royce

In the UFC Georges St. Pierre
    Parisyan
    Penn x2
    Sherk
    Koscheck
1-1 dominant rematch victory over Serra
    Fitch
    2-1 with Hughes

I think GSP's record is greater than Hughes. Especially when you take into account the manner in which he beats his opponents. Compare Hughes' win over GSP to GSP's wins over Hughes. Or Hughes' victory over Penn to GSP's victory's over Penn.

Nothing to twist, That green GSP was much better than a shot fighter.
That green GSP has beaten a bunch of guys to get that title shot

If Hughes was shot it's because GSP shot him.

At the time Hughes was on one the biggest tears in UFC history. He had just finished GSP, Trigg, Riggs & Royce all back to back in title defenses. All in the first round! To cap it all off he avenged his loss to BJ. Becoming the first fighter to ever stop BJ in the process. Where on that streak did he become "shot". Especially when he was getting better results?

Les than 60 days after getting revenge against Penn, GSP absolutely destroyed him. He won every second of that fight and was clearly a better fighter than Hughes in every single aspect of MMA. And Hughes knew it.

Are you going to argue that Hughes somehow became shot during those 60 days or consider what that loss did to Hughes mentally as a fighter?

    FFS, GSP has surpassed Hughes.

He's a much more well rounded fighter than Hughes ever was or couldever dream to be.

Prime vs Prime GSP destroy's Hughes everytime.

GSP is the GOAT at welterweight now and top 3 P4P.

Also/ whoever said GSP was an average fighter is talkaing complete bollox.

Chimba is also talking bollox when he say's that GSP's stand up has regressed.

Chimba, let go of the loss son.

GSP whooped that disgrace Penn and made history once again!

Youre the one talking out of your ass. I havent seen GSPs standup since Serra made him tap and certainly not the stand up that he couldnt put Fitch away with. The same stand up that he didnt use against a pure wrestler Koscheck:lol: He didnt even want to stand up with Penn.

And no he didnt make history last night. What history?? To defend the WW belt second time?

I guess he'll stand up with Alves too. Something funny might happen though if he couldnt take Thiago down.

Yeah yeah yeah, Lets everyone and all of us hate on BJ!!!! He didn't quit, he said and it was clear on PPV that he wanted to go back out, his brother/corner threw in the towel. GSP was WAY too much for him!!! No denying it, not excuses. BJ will never beat GSP, ever. But What the ****! Jesus ****ing christ. I wanna see GSP step up to Anderson and eat Knees, then get bad mouthed for it. This entire situation was twisted from the start and not enough emphasis was ever put on the size differential. GSP won, and he deserves all the credit for his dominating performance...BUT NO LIGHTWEIGHT IN THE WORLD COULD'VE BEATEN GSP, OR PENN!!! and thats one thing that has to be remembered.

It's true. There isn't a single aspect of fighting that GSP now isn't better than a prime Hughes in.

    BJJ -GSP
    Wrestling - GSP
    Striking - GSP
    Blending disciplines - GSP

Even when you get down to the specifics it seems one sided (submission fighting omitted due to me not wanting to be overly meticulous)

    Takedown defense - GSP
    Throws - GSP
    Double legs- GSP
    Boxing - GSP
    Kicks - GSP

The size differential wasn't nothing but BJ wasn't trounced like that the first time they fought at 170. BJ is the former 170lb champ so no excuses.
