He'll be thought of as being a clean athlete in the same way people think OJ Simpson isn't a murderer.

Haha. If a universal crime like murder didn’t break the rules then yes that would be a good analogy.

I think you're deliberately missing the point here. We all know Simpson technically is innocent. But nobody thinks he's actually innocent. Therefore falling back on fairly mealy-mouthed 'well, it's technically correct' statements don't really wash, given nobody really believes he's not a drug cheat. Of course, in the eyes of the agency responsible for testing which he himself signed up to, he is a drug cheat. So god knows where the idea comes from that 'he shouldn't be called a drug cheat.' That's literally, technically and factually what he is, hence his drug test fail. Saying it only counts in places that undertake VADA testing is fine, but it doesn't mean he passed the test.

The OJ Simpson case was very very complicated in that he was a national hero and the case was deliberately turned into a racial issue by his representatives to discredit the people who provided the evidence. Your point was funny though, I liked it.

BJS’s samples were found to contain traces of a substance that ‘isn’t banned’ until 12 hours before and after a fight. So he hasn’t broken the rules of WADA. He could be snorting the stuff like Pablo Escobar but as long as he doesn’t have it in his system 12 hours before and 12 hours after then that isn’t cheating. I’m with you and @Scissors it’s wrong but that’s the current rules.

Wrong again.....Vada was instructed by Andrades team because they were suspicious on BJS going from flabby and fleshy to pretty ripped for the first time in his life in a matter of weeks....They were correct to be suspicious as BJS was sniffing ephedrine, a powerful stimulant and fat loss aid...

You are correct to say he can still box under BBBOC as he has not broken THEIR rules ,which are stupid...

However he has still failed a drugs test that he signed up for so is in every possible way a drugs cheat....

It would be like trying to argue that if you got caught speeding at 70mph in America that its ok because that is not breaking UK laws....you are still breaking the law where you are caught...As did BJS

I hope this helps you because i cannot make it any more simple

Thank you for trying to put it into simple terms for me to understand. It’s obviously beyond my intellect.

The Yanks don’t adhere to VADA anymore than we do. They use WADA and USADA just like we use WADA and UKAD. So ordinarily they adhere to the same rules as we do in Britain. It was the Massachusetts State Athletic commission (note; not all of America) that decided to go against what they normally do (go with WADA’s recommendations) and not grant BJS a license to fight Andrade.

This isn’t about the BBBofC whom simply follow the recommendations of WADA. VADA is a voluntary organisation which carries no real weight apart from when it suits some parties who want nice easy vacant titles to fight for, but that’s just my opinion.

That's not exactly true is it.

BJS signed a contract which entailed Vada testing. You don't agree to VADA testing and then if you fail suddenly try and claim other organisations have different rules.

The right was under VADA testing which means Vada rules.

The commission had no choice but to now allow the fight to go on. It would have been farcical if they did.

Not disputed that he went against the contract. He lost his purse and his belt as a result. I’m just pointing out a fact that the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission normally adhere to WADA in which BJS had not broken any rules. Andrade and his team had every right to pull out of the fight had they chosen to do so as the contract was broken. However, the MSAC doesn’t have to consider the fine details in the contract (that’s a matter for the fighters representatives), it is only down to them whether a fighter should be granted a license to fight in their town. For the first time they decided to ignore their normal policy of following WADA’s recommendations and instead went with VADA’s findings.

I’m happy to be proven wrong but it isn’t my understanding that the MSAC have to consider contracts between fighters to decide whether a fighter should be granted a license. As the BBBofC have stated, BJS would have been granted a license if the fight was in the U.K.

The drug is banned in competition, why take it at all?
Using a loop hole to cheat is poor form IMO

Would be interesting to know if they have ignored vada results and granted a license before?

There’s two things it could be...he could be on the stuff and somehow managing to keep it under UKAD’s radar (who test all year round) or he could have genuinely taken it via a nasal spray. Whichever it is, until the rules are changed he hasn’t broken any.

If you want him to be punished, he’s lost his belt, a 7 figure payday and now he’s in the ‘who needs him’ club where he could be languishing for the remainder of his peak years.
