When has this scenario ever been brought before the MSAC before? I dont think one can say on this occasion they acted differently as to my knowledge they have never had to make the same call. The commission must have at its own discretion the ability to judge every case on its own merits. To think they at all times should ignore whatever drug testing agency is used for testing and forever refer to the WADA code is simply ridiculous. More importantly this was now down to the commission, not down to VADA, Andrade, Hearn or anyone else other than BJS. BJS and his team are the ones responsible for him not getting a licence and trying to shift the blame onto the commission or blame it on corruption is laughable. The commission didnt make him fail a test, the commission didnt make him take a PED which is banned under VADA.
It’s not about more drug testing, it’s about them all being on the same page. VADA have different rules to WADA, UKAD, USAAD etc So which rules do you follow when one set of rules says you can do something but another says you can’t? It’s not like one agency checks for one thing but another doesn’t, they all check for the same things regularly.
They always follow WADA. Always. They grant licenses in various combat sports. You can’t jump between the two depending on the case because that lacks consistency and is open to be picked apart (and sued).
Quite simple, follow the rules of the testing agency. If Vada are doing the testing then the boxers adhere to those rules. Why wouldnt they? That to me is basic common sense. How can their be confusion when they clearly knew who the drug testing agency was. Now if they decided to not to make sure the substances they were taking was not illegal according to VADA then that's real amateur hour stuff.
How so? The commission has to take into account the contact signed by both fighters and the testing they both agreed too. If not then the contract becomes a worthless piece of paper.
Or you could do that, yes. I agree. These anti doping agencies need to get on the same page and have the same rules. It’s just daft. You’re never going to have one universal anti doping agency but you could have universal rules which cuts out loop holes and cases like this. Saunders is a drug cheat according to VADA, but not according to the other more reputable agencies. It’s stupid.
Billy Juice Snorters back in action to clear out the division! *Apart from GGG, Clenelo, Jacobs and Andrade* Coming to a leisure centre near you soon....see the real champ they all duckin'!
They don’t. The contract is between the fighters, it is separate from whether a license should be granted. It isn’t a worthless piece of paper, Andrade could have pulled out the fight because the contract was broken. So it’s not worthless. VADA is a voluntary organisation. It was put into the contract and fair do’s it did its job. Licenses are not granted on VADA rules though, they grant them on WADA. Why are people ignoring this?
Why are VADA less reputable? The rules which say you can only be cheating if you're caught on the day of the fight seem far less reputable than saying you're a cheat if you're caught in training. I also don't see how there could be any confusion here. If you sign a contract which says you'll undergo VADA testing it's a simple idea to make sure you don't cheat.
It is ridiculous that there aren't a universal set of rules, i don't understand it. How can drugs, that are mainly effective during camp/"out of competition", only banned for use on the day of the fight? madness, but i'm never really surprised by the idiocies of boxing anymore
I don’t know mate, but they are. Maybe they’ll get more credibility as the years roll on. What I do know is that when they do find elevated levels of substances in tests, they don’t do anything with them. They just leak them to media outlets etc and let others take the person to task over it. They don’t recommend bans or anything like that. Like i’ve said though, they all need to get on same page.
I completely agree that they all need to be on the same page. The point though is that 'the page' surely has to include testing when a fighter is training and not just on the day of the fight, which has rightly be ridiculed. As for Saunders, the point is simple. No amount of corruption, brown envelopes or anything else can hide the fact that he signed for VADA testing and failed VADA testing, and that's why he's a drug cheat.
Watched the YouTube video of BJS putting £70,000 on Fury to beat Wilder. He is such a pr*ck, no class about this fool whatsoever. I actually believe that he could be mentally ******ed on some level.
I’d say just follow the rules that you signed up for as a starting point. You seem to be saying BJS should’ve been allowed to fight as it was a ‘private contract’ and Andrade would’ve had the option to pull out if he didn’t like the fact BJS failed a test under rules he signed up for ! Why should he pull out and lose his chunk of the purse and a shot at the title ? What an absolute joke that scenario would’ve been. I’m a BJS fan but even so the writing was on the wall , especially as in one interview Ingle said they need to read/understand the contract better in future (or words to that effect) , that in itself will do FW’s and BJS’ legal action no good whatsoever imo.
