Odds are billy didn't factor in us and UK tax combined...

If any fighter should be unpaid it's that horrible scrote

The thought of BJS trying to complete the FTC on his self assessment form amuses me!

F*** BJS tbh. Was desperate to go to Hearn, got the biggest payday of his career for taking a beating and still complains. Pig****.

Hearn doesn’t have a history of facing bankruptcy

One wonders if BJS cannot box again and is now trying it on as potential future paydays have gone up in smoke?

No one to my knowledge has ever complained that Hearn doesn't pay his fighters. I call BS from BJS

As others have said, no matter what we think of Hearn, you never hear of this sort of thing with him, whereas BJS is a waste of oxygen who couldn't count to 10 if he was barefoot

I don't think the forum wants me to write the obvious response but a grasp of history is helpful here.

As for this, we don't know do we? Could be cash flow related or maybe there's some costs within the contract that BJS didn't realise came out of his cut? All conjecture and without any insight from those in the know it will remain so.

Matchroom are a large professional multisport promotions business sitting on a big pile of cash. Their boxers are paid as per contract and on time. You wont find any of their boxers with a bad word against them. Frank Warren still operates like its 1985. Plus various ltd companys going pop.

Matchroom don't have a reputation for non-payment, so this feels most likely to me:

In the run-up to the Canelo fight, BJS made multiple statements about being unhappy with things.

One of them was about how he accepted a lower purse due to the pandemic, but when it was announced to be in front of 70k in Texas, he wanted more loot.

My guess is, one of these moans led to him/his people thinking he'd agreed a higher payment.

It's even simpler than that, if you listen to any Barry Hearn interview about business. He has no debt and built his businesses from that position. Every promotion is taken on risk that the cash pile is drained but there's no existential risk involved. Best example was Benn-Eubank 2, where the promotion was eventually covered at no risk to him, even though that meant releasing the fighters from Matchroom to do so.

You can see shades of this in Brook-Khan, Eddie will know the score and how far to go without taking that kind of risk.
